Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore Divorce: Scenes From A Marriage

Demi Moore announced Thursday that she is filing for divorce from Ashton Kutcher after six years of marriage.

"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life," she told the Associated Press. "This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation."

Rumors began circulating about the couple's marital troubles in September, when Kutcher was reportedly caught cheating. Though he denied the allegation, reports continued to surface that the pair were working on their marriage in light of the infidelity.

People have long questioned the couple's age difference; the pair married in 2005, when she was 43 years old and he was 27. In 2007, Moore told Vanity Fair that their relationship "caught us both by surprise." Could their age disparity have contributed to their marriage's demise?

The photos are haunting. Until the last few months, the chemistry and affection between them is so palpably visible ..their bodies lean together and they make eye contact. Some of the loveliest couple photos ever ... and SO many of them.

Only in the last two or three does one see the glow gone. I'm astounded that so much can be seen in mere photos. Amazing!

I heard through the grapevine they always had an open marriage from day one. In my opinion that was their biggest mistake. That arrangement will trash the best of marriages.

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out what went wrong here. He was young, infatuated with a famous celebrity, and the publicity certainly didn't destroy his career here! What was she thinking? It is truly a rare thing where a young guy is going to remain "in love" with a cougar. Of course, he strayed. It couldn't have lasted. He eventually would want to sample the "fresh fruit" on the vines. It is upsetting to see any couple split but, let's face it, the odds were against them.

I think it may have began as an open marriage, but he was indiscreet. It became so blatant that she couldn't ignore it. It made her look like a fool. In listening to his blogs and hearing him speak, he sounds like a fortune cookie. I think he's losing a really good thing. Good for you, Demi.

It's a Hollywood marriage, which all tend to have very short shelf lives even without a significant age difference. The age difference was one strike against them right from the beginning. I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did.

Sorry. You are not going to like hearing this. When women get Demi's age - when she first met AK she was amorous magnified. I am sure he tried to keep up with her and may have done ok for a while.But I am sure it weighed on his ego. He had to check his "performance" outside the relationship to see if he was actually inadequate. Outside he was fine. So to keep his perspective he had to go outside his marrage from time to time to verify it was Demi, not him. Now that Demi is going though menapause she is going to need three AK's. She thinks it's her-that she is not attractive to AK any more, that he is not interested in her when in fact he just can't keep up with her. And now that she is hitting menapause he's dust in the wind.

Ipane - I can't speak for Ashton but I dont think he used her. You can't pretend a relationship for 8 years there has to be love and passion for a man to even think of staying for that length of time. Especially if your in Hollywood that 8 years is like dog years. So technically they stayed together for 56 years. :) I doubt that was a career move for him.
