Detroit Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Friday At Campus Martius

Three Miles Of Lights To Be Lit At Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Holiday Season officially begins in Detroit this Friday at 7:30 p.m. as we Light Up the Season with the 2011 Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony at Campus Martius Park.

WXYZ-TV and 7 Action News will present full coverage as Detroit decks the halls and begins dreaming of a white Christmas by turning on the lights on the 60-foot Norway Spruce so it will act as a beacon for Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Jolly Old St. Nicholas.

The tree, which comes from a Michigan 4-H Conference Center near Cadillac, has been in place since November 2. Since then it has been wrapped by three miles of lights and adorned with ornaments like jingle bells. The display is sure to show why it's the most wonderful time of the year.
