The first potential casting for the Steve Jobs biopic is in -- and choice may surprise you.

According to UK's Now Magazine, George Clooney is up for the role of the late Apple visionary.

Just two days after his death, Sony acquired the rights to Walter Isaacson's biography "Steve Jobs." Reportedly, Aaron Sorkin, "The Social Network" scribe, is the top contender to adapt the biography into a film.

Fellow "ER" alum Noah Wyle once portrayed a young-Jobs in the TV documdrama "Pirates of Silicon Valley."

What do you think of the Clooney casting potential?

Take a look at the best Mac in movie cameos.

Bad choice. How can Clooney play Jobs in his formative years? Better to go with a young actor that can wear make-up to play an older man. Personally I think Ashton Kutcher is a big enough name, at the perfect age and career-wise, at a stage where he needs a real challenge to grow as an artist and gain respect for his craft so this role would be perfect for him.

Kutcher is devoid of any acting ability. He's lucky his looks and goofy outlook have gotten him this far. I second Bale or RDJ for the role.

With a great director it is possible for Kutcher to make this role his own for the reasons I stated above.

I'm definitely on the Bale train for this one.

It should be Tom Hanks (he'd be believable). Clooney will not be able to look thin and sickly toward the end of the movie.

My thoughts too, Clooney isn't "edgy" enough IMO.

I'm absolutely not sure how I feel about this.

Clooney is a terriffic actor. If he's playing him as older, then I totally am with it.

Actually in his younger days he looked a lot like Ashton Kutcher.

Ya know, the more I see Christian Bale's name floated around here, the more I think that he'd be better for the part because not only has a resemblance, he's intense like Jobs was. Yeah, Christian Bale.

CHRISTIAN BALE!

(it's not really too soon, the project will likely take a few years to develop)

Bale would be great as the nasty, over-bearing, micro-manager Jobs but he would struggle to convey his charisma that was so compelling, it was dubbed the "Reality Distortion Field."
