Every week the numerous blogs covering the machinations of the Apple empire float tons of unconfirmed rumors, futuristic speculation, and questionably-sourced reports on what the company might be unveiling in the near or distant future. Let's take a look back at what these Mac blogs were excited about this week, from November 13 - 19. Check out last week's Apple rumors here, and for all the latest, follow me on Twitter here.

The first iPad was released in April 2010. The iPad 2 was released in March 2011. Could the iPad 3 be released in February 2012?

I don't know, and neither does anyone else! Welcome back to THIS WEEK IN APPLE RUMORS!

While February 2012 is an intriguing iPad 3 release date for the pattern-obsessed, all we "know" is that the iPad 3 seems to be in production and aiming for an early 2012 release. Apple is historically predictable with its product launches -- this year marked the first year in 5 that an iPhone did not come out in July -- and that an early 2012 release for a new iPad is at least probable, based on previous release dates.

Aside from the lessons of history, this week, FOUR different reports have the iPad 3 coming soon: A Taiwanese trade publication called DigiTimes has two of these, first claiming that shipments of panels for the iPad 2 are slowing in anticipation of the iPad 3, and later writing that Apple's various component suppliers expect to begin building the iPad 3 in January 2012. This could mean prototypes, or it could mean full on production; either way, the work on the iPad 3 surely seems like it has started.

But what will this iPad look like? Well, there were lots of rumors about major changes coming to future-generation iPads this week as well. Read on to see how the Apple slate could be transforming in 2012.

Apple usually updates it's products every year, so I don't know if I'd call a new iPad in '12 a really white hot, super juicy rumor.

The only thing for certain is that the price of membership in the "I've got the latest Apple" club will be at least $1000 per person.

Best rumor...

Steve Jobs' brain will be at the center of the new Apple HQ, controlling the entire company...until the machines finally take over the world and Jobs is their master.

I do also, I was lucky enough to win mine last Christmas. What I also like is I use my IPad as a music source. I run Pandora through my IPad on a docking port and it is hooked up to my home stereo system.

Think Geek has a great item, even thought it is a bit expensive. Its a laser virtual keyboard. A small square box emits a laser that projects a keyboard on to a flat surface and you can type using the projection.

I think they have to get out an new tablet soon. With new android tablets coming out with the new chip, they are a lot faster then the ipad, Apple needs to respond.

I think it is a good idea to have a 10 and 7 inch tablet. Apple fanboys will buy both for sure.I wouldn't mind a cheap 7inch. The fire is way too restrictive.

there are android tablets out already that beat the ipad2 go to best buy and test drive a Galaxy 10.1 and you'll see... but you are right the fire is way too restrictive... i was thinking of getting 1 for my gf that uses a kindle right now, but she's in love with my 10.1 and when compared to the fire she'll just end up with tablet envy, so i'm probably gonna get her a 10.1 instead.

But those Android tablets all use 16-bit colour dithering instead of true 24-bit.

Apple hasn't really improved the iphone or ipad in two years. It is still the most expensive smart phone and tablet computer around.

lol ... posted after they just released the 4S.

WHICH...even critics agree...wasn't really much of an upgrade (aside from perhaps the camera), and thus it was labeled an outright disappointment by many.

I mean, come on -- all you have to do is Google "iPhone 4s reviews" to see that it was received very lukewarm.

"Who says you can't have your cake and eat it, too?" Well, everyone says that, but they really shouldn't, because of course you can have your cake, and eat it too. What you can't do is "eat your cake and have it too". See, that was simple. Now, try that.

And, I here that Steve Jobs will rise from the dead and become Defender of the Faith at the Church of Scientology before 2011 expires.

Doesn't matter because the transformer prime will obliterate whatever apple tablet releases next, if they're as smart as people give them credit for - they'll quit with their dignity and not try to compete against that monster.

I'm definitely getting an iPad3 when it drops. I hope it has at least the iPhone 4S camera's. I need something that's more portable than a laptop that I can look things up quickly on, like when I see something on tv and don't wanna run to the computer. Right now I'm using my iPhone around the house for that but with a bigger screen the iPad should be perfect.

Depends what your use is, I use it for reading books so ipad 1 is great for me.
