"Living the dream" - one hit wonders and professional athletes frequently burn through it as fast as it comes in. I also know of people with brief sports and entertainment careers who saved and invested a large portion of what they earned and were set for life. But I guess they gave up the chance to be on MTV Cribs.

Agents, management companies and artist representatives suck it all out of them. They hear how much they earned, but never get the bottom line on how much the rest of the stuff costs. Most of those MTV "cribs" are leased for big bucks.

in 5 years all these FAKE celebrities Faux Reality stars will be on this list... Nene, The Situation, Snookie, & Teresa Guidice .. none of these people have an income stream that built from a real talent other than the marketing of their reality show.. when the show goes... the money will follow... ask Spencer & Heidi

I find these stories irritating! It is just as easy to over spend by $500 as it is to over spend by $2M. The number shouldn't matter, except to the creditor. Over spending and poor choices are the same no matter the size of your bank account because people often think more money is coming soon. It is simply a matter of how much money you can access. These formerly wealthy celebrities are no better or worse than everyday people who bounce checks daily. It's simply a matter of degree, poor choices and/or "life happens" on a grander scale, but it can happen to anyone who isn't careful with their money or falls on really tough times. (nn)

Isn't it funny how when articles like this are posted the authors can go waaay back to Marvin Gaye but let it be anything positive and the authors only go back to 2005 i.e., funniest comedians..

Oh BooHoo...just gettin out of it what you put into it...that's how it goes...and as for Madonna's brother...did he ever consider getting a job and supporting himself instead of thinking his sister owed him something ? Guess not...it's her money...not his :-P

That ruling against Kim Basinger always baffled me. That movie was never even going to make $8.1 million.

One of the most moronic stories I've read. First, declaring bankruptcy means nothing these days. It's just a quick fix to financial problems. Second, Madonna's brother is not a celebrity. And Just a few other things. If Don Johnson came up with the 14+ million to save his ranch, then he wasn't broke. Burt Reynolds put everything he had in his theater. Michael Jackson was NEVER poor after attaining his wealth. And anyone who snorts or shoots millions of dollars into their brain needs to look elsewhere for sympathy. Too many of these are acting like Republicans!

Madonna should take care of her brother.... that is very sad and disturbing that she is so wealthy and can not take care of family.

Why? My Guess is that he has an abuse problem: drugs, alcohol, gambling, whatever. As long as someone is on that train ride, You can give then $1,000,000 a year, & it's never enough.

Madonna doesn't seem to take care of her family anyway. Her brother Christopher said that when she married Guy Ritchie, she invited her family to the wedding but they all had to pay their own airfare and accommodations.

There's nothing more dangerous than a rich enabler. It's like a loaded gun.
12:34 PM on 11/21/2011
Getting someone help that is living on the streets is not being an enabler.

It is sad to see that some people hit the jack pot in life and then loose it all.

I hope they did some good with the money while they had it.
