What's a pink-haired pop princess got to do with a re-imagined story of Marilyn Monroe?
A lot, apparently.
The Weinstein Company, endeavoring to make its Monroe feature as relevant (and devastating) as possible, has paired it to Katy Perry's heart-wrenching new single, "The One That Got Away."
And the result is...not as good as it could have been. The themes are there but the mashup's lacking the kind of poise we've seen from both "My Week With Marilyn" and Perry's latest hit.
"Marilyn Monroe is a source of inspiration to millions worldwide," said Perry in a statement. "After having the opportunity to see the movie and fall in love all over again with Marilyn Monroe, I'm excited to find a way to share this movie that I loved so much with my fans in a special and unique way."
