Christmas Markets: Berlin's Annual Market Opens (PHOTOS)

This may be Thanksgiving week here in America, but Christmas is upon the rest of the world.

Christmas markets overtake Europe around this time every year; perhaps none are more famous than those in Germany.

Cities such as Munich, Frankfurt, Dresden, Nuremberg and Berlin all host Christmas markets. Berlin's opened on Monday night to much fanfare (see photos below).

Within Berlin, there are some 60 markets around town, according to Berlin's tourism site. The markets close on December 31.
