Best Athlete Tweets Of The Week

In this installment, "Athlete Tweets of the Week" returns to the basics: funny and off-beat observations on the world around us. These top tweets were authored by a few familiar typers, such as Marlins outfielder Logan Morrison, who figured that AL MVP Justin Verlander might even get more votes in the NL MVP race than himself. But we also had some neophytes enter the fray, such as Todd Herremans, an offensive lineman for the Eagles who criticized Jacksonville kicker Josh Scobee for taking a shot at Philadelphia wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Finally, after the latest collapse in labor negotiations, NBA superstar Kevin Durant hinted at returning to school. We're sure Texas would try to find a way to get him his eligibility back.

As usual, we've scoured our timeline from the past week to bring you what we believe to be the best of the best that athletes have to offer via Twitter. Vote on which athlete you believe had this week's best tweet. The winner will be given remarkable Interweb cred and 140 characters worth of salutations via the @HuffPostSports Twitter account.

This week's winner was none other than Lakers big man Pau Gasol, who apparently has been using his time off from the NBA to catch up on some "Game Of Thrones."

Please send him your congratulations and give him a follow @paugasol. You can vote on this week's nominees for tweet of the week below:
