Princess Mary vs. Princess Letizia: Who Wore The Best White Suit? (PHOTOS, POLL)

Letizia may be the princess of Spain, but she's the Queen of the Pantsuit (a title held stateside by either Nancy Pelosi or the original, Hillary Clinton).

So we barely raise an eyebrow when we see Princess Letizia out in some sort of monochromatic pants-and-jacket combo, often in gray, beige or some other earth tone.

Princess Mary of Denmark, on the other hand, is typically a dress kind of gal (much like another famous royal). So when we saw her yesterday out in a bright white pantsuit, we were definitely surprised -- how Princess Letizia of her!

So we took a look and confirmed what we already knew: the Spanish royal has worn her fair share of white pantsuits, with all sorts of heels and sparkly camis.

How does Princess Mary, who is currently on a royal tour of Australia with her husband Prince Frederik, compare? Check out our Royal Fashion Face-Off below.

Quick Poll

Who wore her white pantsuit better?

Princess Mary!

Princess Letizia!

Everything that Princess Letizia wears looks fabulous! It's the way she carries herself.

They are both beautiful, and they both look lovely; but I am not a fan of cuffs.

Mary always looks boring in white, she can't carry off that color. Her suit is also very wrinkled and the suit doesn't look like it's made of good material. The netted/see-through part of her top is also a bit tacky, IMO.

Letizia wears white very well, and her pantsuit is tailored to fit her body.

You are wrong about the material. Her suit is linen. One of the hallmarks of good linen is wrinkles -- believe it or not. So few clothes are made out of fine fabrics these days -- just blends and petroleum blends at that -- that we no longer recognize fine fabrics.

White is a very difficult color for most people to wear -- white shoes are a no, no. Mary's coloring is from the cool side of the color wheel. She has "winter" coloring. Of all groups that can wear white better, it is the "winter" group. On the other hand, Letizia has warm coloring, so white is the wrong color for her. Having said that, both these women are beautiful -- as far as I can gather, inside and out -- and that is apparent whatever they wear.

Personally, for most people, I think white should be left in the store.

Letizia's seems the nicer of the two - better cut, no cuffs, well-pressed. That said, Mary would look better in the same outfit. On Letizia, it hangs too loosely in places, since she is so rail-thin.

What fresh hell is this?

I agree that Mary would look better in Letizia's suit. Is she trying to hide snakes with those droopy cuffs? Never was a fan of that sort of thing, fake or not.

Princess Leia?

I would have gone for Mary except for the legs of her pants. The cuff needs to go.

love just is; golden in it's simplicity

Mary doesn't have the legs for flared bottoms or cuffs.

I agree. Her legs can sometimes look stubby. She also likes to wear those pants that are not tailored, too wide-legged, and too long. The result is an unpolished look, like in this case where the pants are almost covering her shoes and dragging on the floor.

They both look very classy. I like.

I simply have to go with the one who had the pants hemmed and pressed before going out in public with them. Otherwise, I would have gone with Mary.

As I said in my post above, linen wrinkles. We are so used to cheap petroleum blends, that we no longer recognize fine fabrics when once in a while we see them.
08:54 PM on 11/27/2011
Yes we all know that linen wrinkles, it's a natural fabric made from flax, and she should know that, too. Not the best choice of fabric if one is to be out a about and photographed. Plus the legs of the pants are way too wide.

I prefer pants that are NOT cuffed, but Mary looks better just because she has a curvier figure -- Letizia is beautiful but she is a bit too thin.
12:27 AM on 11/25/2011
Mary wishes she could be that thin. She has dieted herself to lose more than 30-40 lbs already. She doesn't have a curvier figure. Her shoulders are too wide, no boobs, and no hips either. She's big-boned though, and people mistake that for "curvy".

Saw her this week in Oz. She's actually very thin and tiny. I'd say she's even thinner than Letizia (if you can imagine that). Mary is about 5'5"-5'6" and about 110 lbs. Very, very thin and frail-looking with very thick makeup and big hair.

I saw Letizia when I was on a holiday in Majorca. She's about 5'7" and not as thin as she looks on photos. Her body is actually healthy and normal. I was shocked to see the difference, because I always thought Letizia would be the thinner of the two.

Anyway, I like the pantsuit on Letizia better. Mary likes to wear pants that are unlined, too wide-legged, and too long. She doesn't look polished and elegant enough. Letizia's tailored pantsuit looks beautiful.
