Scotty McCreery Lip Sync Fail At Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (VIDEO)

Scotty Mccreery

Scotty McCreery has a whole lot to be thankful for this year, but he's probably not going to enjoy his turkey quite as much after a slip up at today's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

This year's "American Idol" winner was riding a float and setting himself to perform to his hit, "The Trouble With Girls." Unfortunately, his cue didn't go quite right, and the song began a few seconds before he began to "sing." In other words, a lip sync fail.

It's quite obvious that all the artists at the Thanksgiving Day Parade lip sync, and one can debate the merits of that sound quality versus the value of live performance. But getting it right, technically, is probably a must.

This, unfortunately, isn't the first time McCreery has been involved in a flub at a national event; at the World Series, the sound system was off as he sang the "Star Spangled Banner," and then he messed up the lyrics.

The irony? He's famous because he is great at performing live.

The second "flub" that you are refering to, was NOT made by Scotty. That was made by Lauren Alaina (she was the runner-up to Scotty on AI.)

The second flub referred to WAS made by Scotty at the World Series. Here's the story:

Lauren Alaina "also" flubbed the National Anthem before the Packers/Lions game on Thanksgiving Day. Here's that story:

He can't sing anyway. He just burps up the lyrics. Next.

I did not see the parade, but I thought he did a marvelous job with the National Anthem. At least he did not try to change the whole song. He sang it as it was written. No crouch grabbing, no changing the tune, and frills to try and show how unique he is. He sang it with respect and I was really proud of him. (By the way, I am not a fan of the show he won and did not hear him there.) On the performance of our National Anthem, I went out and bought his CD the next day.

You bought his CD the day after he screwed up the National Anthem by singing:

"No Jose does that Star Spangled banner yet wave" instead of "Oh say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave."

That's a head scratcher.

Well, darn! Scotty was invited to be in the Macy's parade and lip-synch (like all the rest) to his hit recording and there was a technical screw-up and it wasn't Scotty's fault. My day is completely ruined!

Ever hear of 'subtext'? That's what I see when I read all the negative comments and attacks on Scotty McCreery. Waaaaaa! He won American Idol and he's a star and I didn't even get a ticket to Hollywood. I'm nobody! Waaaaaaa!

I've run tech on countless singers performing their one hit.. (or one of their hits...) in nightclubs around the world. Most of them don't bother to show up for a sound check, and bring a backing track that has the vocals in it (either normal or turned down slightly). This allows the sound guy to mix the live microphone on top of the track as they can, but you're never left with horrible sounding vocals. This is pretty standard procedure, and I can only imagine that's how they were able to do a whole slew of live outdoor performances with little or no tech time per performer. It just sucked in this case because there's virtually no lead into the track - the vocals start right away. This guy has probably been singing non stop since he won, and outside in the cold it's even harder to put on a good performance.

If you can sing, then why lip sync? Really. It's insulting.

Is there any reason for this belief that they (these overpaid entertainers) all need to pull the wool over their adoring fans' eyes? Why do they pretend and thus turn us into naive saps?

You know, naive spelled backwards is Evian. Please enjoy the water, and I'll be here for most of the week...
