ISLAMABAD — The Pakistani government has demanded the U.S. vacate an air base within 15 days that the CIA is suspected of using for unmanned drones.

The government issued the demand Saturday after NATO helicopters and jet fighters allegedly attacked two Pakistan army posts along the Afghan border, killing 24 Pakistani soldiers.

Islamabad outlined the demand in a statement it sent to reporters following an emergency defense committee meeting chaired by Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

Shamsi Air Base is located in southwestern Baluchistan province. The U.S. is suspected of using the facility in the past to launch armed drones and observation aircraft to keep pressure on Taliban and al-Qaida militants in Pakistan's tribal region.

And are sheltering the Taliban as well.

Maybe next time the USA shouldn't stop India from retaliating to terrorism out of Pakistan as we did after the Mumbai attacks.

You have an inlfated sense of your own importance. If India wanted to attack Pakistan, it's not going to ask for America's permission.

Next time Pakistan Military Troops opens fire over the border at Afghanistan's troops, they better think twice. The Afghans might not only have weapons, but radios and laser pointers to call in an airstrike.

Or what? Will they hide another one of our fugitives? Or do they want us out because they are hiding more al-Qaida leaders and they don't want us to find them.

gavrielle, I don't see the United States withdrawing any time soon. The American public has tolerated its imperialist government so far. They vote for it and they pay for it with their taxes. MoneyMan, you talk as though Pakistan has no leverage over the United States. Like any other bully, the United States is too cowardly to attack any country which can fight back. The United States won't stop its warmongering until there is a critical mass of anti-Americanism, which is inevitable.

They won't need to. The American public has no interest in policing the world. When we're done with al qaeda and the taliban we're going to take our ball and go home. We'll strip our bases out of Europe and the rest of the world. Build island bases to protect our interests and leave them permanently in international waters. They will be made in America and supplied by American goods. No money will go to any other country and we will not "save" anybody from themselves. Humanitarian aid only. Expect the world to be a different place entirely in the next 50 to 100 years.

That would be really awesome. Besides taking care of your own people, there must be some strategy in staying home and fortifying your own country. I've often thought about why this wasn't done a long time ago, when everyone has been criticizing US foreign policy. I suppose the Bush/Rumsfield/Wolfowitz/Cheney/BushJr era will take a while to dissolve. Kinda like nuclear fallout.

Pakistan should immediately demand sacking of the Nato commander who ordered this aggression on Pakistan..

Pakistan had lost 40,000 lives in the war against terror, adding that Pakistani soldiers were being killed by our allies.... How strange the America is!!

The total responsibility lies with the Nato forces and American expansionist designs. Like in Iraq and Libya, the Americans are becoming habitual of violating territorial sovereignty of other countries and Saturday morning’s deliberate attack is part of the US expansionism design...
very sad and shameful incidence

Pakistan is like an entire nation run as a Mexican drug cartel. The sooner we write them off the books..the better. As with Mexico, our policy and $$ is the root of all problems.

Aga Khan, 49th Imam, was scheduled to deliver an address to the UN General Assembly, called 'Heritage: Driver of Development' (choke). 'Heritage' isn't the 'driver of development', Corporate is. Heritage is a MODERATOR of development, a LEGACY safekeeping the future. Western-style resources development is coming to Pakistan and Afghanistan. So you have to wonder, since US:ISAF now relies on a cadre of 'spotters' for their UAV targeted assassinations, if someone decided to rain on the Imam's parade, by calling in a strike on what were two dozen PK troops? Then you have to wonder why we spent ONE TRILLION DOLLARS, just to be played like that?
