Chaz Bono Proposes To Girlfriend Jennifer Elia On New OWN Documentary 'Being Chaz' (VIDEO)

It's been a big year for Chaz Bono -- from starring on "Dancing With The Stars" to being nominated as one of Out magazine's 100 LGBT people of the year -- and if the above clip from the new OWN documentary "Being Chaz" is any indication of what's in store for 2012, next year should be just as monumental.

In the preview, which is from the follow up to the Emmy-nominated documentary "Becoming Chaz," Bono proposes to girlfriend Jennifer Elia while atop the Seattle Space Needle reports TMZ.com.

"It's gorgeous. Thank you so much," Elia says upon being presented with her engagement ring. "It's stunning. It's huge."

"Being Chaz," which airs tonight on OWN at 8pm ET, focuses less on Bono's transition and more on his life, including, as People.com notes, the backlash he encountered when he became the first transgender contestant to compete on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars."

"People feel so angry that Chaz is entering their television," Elia says. "People who make change get shot, and I don't think that's worth it. ... This is insane. It's not worth doing a show if you're going to get shot."

Directly after, OWN presents "I am Jazz: A Family in Transition" about an 11-year-old who is transitioning.

I highly recommend Chaz Bono's book, "Transitions" which will answer a lot of questions.
Get it like I did, from the public library.

Chaz is still female....all she did was have her breasts removed and take male hormones. She still has a V and ovaries so shes still woman

It's actually quite frightening how skewed the comments are. As the years go by, the LGB community has become far more accepted; yet for some reason, there is still a huge stigma about being transgendered. I truly suggest that everyone take the time out of their lives to educate themselves upon what being transgender (using that as an umbrella term even I need to educate myself) means and then maybe teaching one or two others about what you have learned. If there is one thing I know about how to beat any type of phobia, it is the fact that once you take the time to learn about it, you can start to accept reality.

If Chaz has undergone gender reassignment surgery then he is male in the eyes of the law so it will be a heterosexual marriage. Doesn't matter what state they marry in.
