"Buy natural varieties of peanut butter and pour off the oil sitting on top. Each serving will have 20 fewer calories and 2 to 3 fewer grams of fat. It's a small difference that'll add up to a couple of pounds per year."

I always have had a problem with my weight. It is not so much what I eat as to what I do not eat. I have a very bad habit of skipping meals. To busy at work or I just start doing things at home and forget. I know that sounds stupid but my doctor has told me that is worse because my body says ,hay better store more fat because I am starving my body. When I do get around to eating it is usually late. So I will have something quick, like cheese and crackers or toast with pb. I do drink pop but I limit that to only 1 can in a day. At one time I would go through a case in a week, sometimes more. I drink at least 4 bottles of water a day. Really I do try but just need to start trying harder. 3\4 small meals a day is going to be my goal. Hopefully it will work and I will loose some of my FAT! Some ideas were okay, some not so much.Any one willing to help???????

I'm not a dietician, but I'm working with one. I know it's important not to skip meals, especially
breakfast. My dietician told me it's important to try to include protein with every meal.
I've also increased my in take of fiber. Fibre 1 is a good choice of cereal. I eat about 1/2 cup of ceral with 1/2 cup of skim milk with a cup of tea. You can have some fruit with your cereal. The idea is to have a balanced meal. You can also have oatmeal, good in the winter. Another choice for breakfast might be 2 poached eggs and a piece of whole wheat toast. You say you drink a lot of water. That's great. Basically you can also get a copy of Canada's Food Guide at www.healthcanada.gc.ca/foodguide. Then look at the recommended number of food guide servings per day based on your age. I often use it to plan my meals. I read somewhere that
when you skip meals, your body holds on to every single calorie because it doesn't know when
you will eat again. Your idea of 3 - 4 small meals in a good one. I make sure I have a breakfast,
lunch, usually an afternoon healthy snack and dinner. I was also told to increase my level of
exercise. I also use very little added salt and I have cut down significantly on sugar. I hope some of this information may be helpful to you.

I haven't tried it yet but I think a big help would be to reverse your eating habits.
Eat dinner in the morning and breakfast at night.

Sorry, but the first tip is moronic...

...do I dare to keep reading?

How about mix the dang PB, stop vilifying fat, and take a smaller scoop...?

Regarding Slide #7 which states you can lose up to 5 pounds in a week. In order to do that, you would have to burn a negative effect of 2500 calories EACH DAY to truly lose 5 pounds of fat. For those of you wanting to lose weight, take it slow and steady. Not only will it be healthier and quite frankly, doable, but you'll find it easier to keep off. Just think, if you'd started last year at this time just losing 1 pound per week, you'd have lost almost 60 pounds. BTW, I lost 80 pounds 5 years ago. It took 1 1/2 years to do it.

I agree with your advice to lose weight slowly. It's definitely healthier on your body than losing
the weight too quickly. Congratulations on losing 80 lbs. five years ago.

switching it up during you workout is a big one - muscle mass burns calories, and when you change how your muscles have to work, you make them grow a little, and burn more energy while resting.

I simply do not eat desserts and bread and even pasta... I finally got to my perfect weight which is 112 @ 5' 6'...may seem too thin for some but it feels good to me. I have toned muscles from years of working out...lots of walking and stair climbing and a few other secrets to keep it all firm. I eat protein and veggies and fruit. And a steady diet of sex does not hurt....;)

"Season and butter the bottom of foods. For example, butter the bottom of toast, and salt the bottom of potato rounds."

Um... wouldn't it be easier to just turn your food over before you take a bite?

Small changes work. The secret is to make permanent changes, so the weight doesn't come back. You have to like the changes, so work with them until they meet your needs. For example, you must like popcorn to use it as a snack. Disagree with one item. 7:30 p.m. is too late for dinner. If hunger is killing you before bed, eat a handful of healthy cereal as you would potato chips. Also, check out Method Weight Management, a common sense approach to weight loss - on amazon - same philosophy - and it works!

It's vital to eat good to remain healthy. Colon cleanse is an amazing suplement which keeps you healthy and additionally has the bonus of helping you to lose a lot of weight.

Another great way is to track what you eat, but in a very easy way. No calorie counting and/or measuring, but simply by taking a picture (it's sometimes called the flash diet). I use dietSNAPS the iPhone app to do so. It really makes a difference in my food choices.

Didnt see a thing about drinking water instead of soda. If anyone is serious about losing weight the 1st thing they should do is stop drinking soda, diet or otherwise.

Excellent point. And water is truly the elixir of life. Everything works better when you drink enough of it.

It is hard to believe that pure water is beginning to be hard to find. My city water is full of chemicals yet I can smell mold in it. Bottled water is probably better, but it should be dated very recent and used quickly because of the bottles themselves are unhealthy. It should never be exposed to sunlight. If my cat won't drink it, I won't.

It is difficult to believe that there are still people who do not know the content of what they are drinking. Regular soda has enough sugar to contribute to the development of diabetes, and diet soda with it's substitutes can be life threatening.the whole sugar substitute program is a giant experiment using people.

Good post, gemmax. I've also read that sugar substitutes in diet soda can be
extremely unhealthy for you. One such example is aspertame, which is also in
an ingredient in a lot of diet pops, some yogurt brands and in some calorie reduced gum.
I read about someone who ingested some aspertame, she drank a lot of diet pop,
who got so sick, she had to be hospitalized. The doctors determined that the
aspertame had been a contributing factor to her illness. I can't remember what happened to the woman after she was hospitalized. Hopefully, she got better when she stopped consuming the aspertame. If I see any product with aspertame in it, I personally don't buy it.
I think any product that has sugar substitutes should be used with caution.

I've been educating my partner who does a lot of our shopping. Many food distributors of various foods, including canned fruit, are now labeling with very large print that an item is low sugar or reduced sugar and in almost unreadable tiny print on the side of the container, not where you would expect to find the information, the labels say "contains (whatever sugar substitute they have added)". It is a problem for those who cannot see well, and I am going to write to the FDA about it and the companies. Enough complaints and perhaps they will change the labels to be readable and "up front" for all. Sugar substitutes make me personally immediately and violently ill, as do preservatives that are used on some foods.
