Paul McCartney's 2011 Tour 'On The Run' Begins In Bologna, Italy (PHOTOS)

Mccartney

Posted: 11/27/11 12:41 PM ET

Sir Paul McCartney is back to where he's always belonged: on the stage, rockin' it.

The former Beatle and Rock N' Roll Hall of Famer made the first stop on the European leg of his "On the Run" tour in Bologna, Italy on Saturday, thrilling fans with hits new and old. The tour was announced following his October marriage to Nancy Shevell; an 11-stop event, it follows his summer "On the Run" concerts at stadiums across America and a stop earlier in November to perform at the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.

The tour will continue on through most of December, touching down on Paris, Russia and London before finishing in his hometown of Liverpool.

There's no set list available for Saturday's gig in Bologna yet, but you can check out a review and recap of his show in Abu Dhabi by clicking here.

paul...it's so amazing to have someone in your life that you care for and who dosen't know you even exist...everyone i have known seemed to have been connected somehow...and then i grew up but i'll always wish him my best....something else he won't ever see, read or care about

This guy has brought more good times to more people than anyone I can think of. He views himself purely as an entertainer, not a savior of the world, and as such he has no peer. Rock on, Sir Paul.

Well, more of an informed opinion. My nephew does sound for concerts ( Dream Theater, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Megadeth are a few of his recent tours ) He did Pauls tour a couple-three-four (?) years ago. On a non-show day, away from the venue, and on his own with another roadie, my nephew was spotted by one of Pauls suck-ups, eating a burger. This flunkie reported it to Sir Paul, who immediately kicked my nephew ( with a preggo wife at home ) off the tour. Personally dressed him down.
Just my opinion. You can be a fan tho. Cheers!

granted, he's no lil wayne or j z, but he does happen to be the greatest living song writer on earth as well as half of the greatest composing team to ever grace the planet. Not too bad for an old geezer.

He never made such an announcement.

Paul has been touring regularly for the past several years.

I recommend the excellent documentary "THE LOVE WE MAKE", which shows McCartney during the preparation of the 9/11 show in Madison Square Garden. Some fascinating stuff about the nature of Über-celebrety, a musician's work day ... and his surprising insecurities. He is trying to convince himself and others (Eric Clapton in a memorable moment...) that the abysmal "I will fight for my right to live in Freeeee-Dom!" - song he wrote for the occasion will be what he calls "tingle-time". The look on Clapton's face is priceless.

He shows every sign of being able to pull this off - balancing the nostalgia against a hard-rocking show - for another twenty years.

I'm not sure I can say the same about myself - and he's older than I...

He looks happy and 15 years younger since he got away from the gold-digger.

Ahhhh the wonders of cosmetic surgery! Doesn't matter.......if I could afford it I'd have some touchups done to my old skin! lol lol lol
It's Paul and I love to heat him sing! My favorite Beatle was George Harrison!

He looks his age now, and the work is obvious. That said, right up until about 55 he looked far younger and natural than his age... he was always boyish. Can't run from it now though.

His taste in women has nothing to do with his art, besides, most of us have chosen the wrong person at least once in our lives.

how has he made "this world a better place"?

Art is a healing force.

He has made the world a better place for the peeps here who love him. Think of your favorite music and then life without it.

McCartney looks pretty good. Like 10 years younger and it doesn't look like he had a facelift. I give hime credit for keeping his career going because he certainly doesn't need the cash.

That used to be the case, but last year's Radmacher v Granatino seems to be bucking that trend.

I made the five hour drive all the way from Eastern Ohio to McCartney's Detroit concert at Comerica Park in late-July. He had speaker stacks mounted on pillars at First, Second, and Third Bases that were 75 feet high, as well as all those speakers on the Main Stage at Center Field. On his hard-rock songs, Paul McCartney and his band were LOUDER THAN GOD!!!!! The sound was so loud, and shook my insides so much, I almost had a bowel movement in the Upper Deck above First Base! LOL!!!!! The fireworks going off inside and above the stage shell during "Live And Let Die" stole the show!!!

If you get a chance to see Paul McCartney in concert next year, pony up the money and get yourself entertained and your body physically rocked. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

@Lawrence Ressler. Agreed. He (Sir Paul) puts on the best show I've ever seen! I live in So Cal. Saw them at The Forum. It was an awesome show! I WAS RIGHT THERE!!! RIGHT THERE, MAN; 9th row!

I would really like to but I have serious concerns of an embarrassing, unplanned bowel movement at the show. Sorry :(
