Bethenny Frankel Talk Show Fails To Find Syndication Interest

Reality star Bethenny Frankel's "advice-based" talkshow was reportedly dropped by Telepictures.

According to the New York Post, the creator of "Skinny Girl" liquor products and former cast member of "The Real Housewives of New York" taped a pilot episode that failed to find syndication support from local television stations. Telepictures (a division of Warner Brothers) has since dropped the show.

Frankel, whose syndicated talkshow aspirations received strong support from Ellen Degeneres, recently finished taping a season of Bravo's "Bethenny Ever After." The Hollywood Reporter said that Frankel was considering doing a talkshow for a cable channel.

Frankel's talkshow project with Telepictures was announced in August 2011. According to the New York Post, Frankel appeared on "The Ellen Show" a number of times to showcase her talents for giving audience members lifestyle tips, including bargain shopping hints and healthy snacking advice.

Bethenny's supposed show was never going to happen on network tv. Station owners were never going to buy a show featuring such an abrasive personality. Local news is the bread and butter for the owners and look at the caliber of shows they feature for talk shows (Ellen, Oprah) - whoever thought Bethenny could be in that league should be out of a job. Bethenny's schtick worked on night time cable and she sold her margarita recipe and made some money - that does not qualify her as endearing or talented to be a talk show host. It does take some skill to converse on television and appear genuine and relaxed while attracting an audience and advertisers. Bethenny thinks she is somehow qualified to be a talk show host, skin expert, exercise expert. It's too arrogant for words.

Some of her "good advice" in her "bestselling" book is to "eat healthy" and people are willing to buy a $20 hardback book to read that? These must be the same people who pay Suze Orman to tell them if they want to save money they should "pay their bills in full each month" - great, thanks for the genius advice - all those struggling without jobs need to just pay their bills in full each month and eat a salad!

I think she does not script the show. If she want to drag people she has to make up stories and creates dramas big dramas combined with publicity stunt. But because she is not this sort of girl, no one wants to see the show. People and specilaly men adores sluty girls. She is not. It s flat.

While she was good at putting the grotesque women of the NYC franchise in their place... I can see how she might not win the syndication world over. I personally find her a bit abrasive and exhausting. She can pull out a good zinger, but needs to just chill for a sec. Not everyone is into the whole "I'm A Walking Stand Up Act" thing.

And as far as "talking" goes, her voice is rather grating. Loud and nasal and again..just abrasive.

Exhausting is a good word to describe her. On one hand I find her hilarious and fun to watch, other times her constant crying and schizo-like behavior is too much. I actually don't think I finished her last season because of that.
