Sunday was the the 4th annual Delhi Queer Pride March. The parade moved from Barakhamba Road-Tolstoy Marg to Jantar Mantar.

The event was organized by the Delhi Queer Pride Committee, which received permission from the Delhi Police to host the parade.

According to Aditya Bondyopadhyay, the march ended in Jantar Mantar with a reading of the "Charter of Demands for LGBT Rights" and a two-minute silence for those who died in the recent Nand Nagri fire tragedy.

Nearly 2,000 people attended the march.

Beautiful photos!! I am very impressed with the progress that India has made regarding LGBT rights in the last couple years. Onwards to full equality.

Seems the land of my parents birth has improved quiet a lot since my last visit! Now for parliament to take a few more steps to surprise the US.

Sadly I think it'll take a few more years before Parliament passes marriage equality.

You ought to have mentioned that India only legal since 2009. For two years, the people in the march were effectively making a public declaration that they were committing a crime. That is guts.
My fav signs:

"Kids in this family will not grow up homophobic. How about yours"
"I have died. I have cried. Not any more"
"Our love is not your decision"

I have some friends who live in India. The debate over marriage equality has become a popular one with more and more Indians speaking out in favor of it.

Which of course, were started when Sylvia Rivera threw a heel at the cops raiding the place...

Which is why they called this march QUEER pride, and at first blush, were pretty trans-inclusive.
