Justin Combs To UCLA: Son Of Rap Star Diddy Commits To Play Football For The Bruins

Rap Star's Son Commits To Play Football At UCLA

While it's more or less unheard of for a two-star cornerback recruit to garner national headlines, when that cornerback happens to be the son of arguably the most famous hip hop artist of all-time, it grabs some attention.

On Tuesday, Justin Combs, the son of rap star Sean Combs, better known as "Diddy" (at least for now), committed to play football at UCLA next season.

“It was love at first sight,” the younger Combs told Scout.com. “When I first went on a visit, I fell in love with the program and I fell in love with the environment and the tradition."

Justin gave his pledge to the team just days after it announced the firing of head coach Rick Neuheisel, but Diddy's son remains confident in the direction of the program. “I have faith in the program that everything will be okay,” he said. “My love for UCLA is so strong, I trust and know that everything will work out.”

Perhaps best known for his appearance on the hit MTV show "My Super Sweet 16," Combs played cornerback at Iona Prep in New Rochelle, New York and, according to Rivals.com, he's garnered numerous Division 1 scholarship offers, including from Illinois and Iowa.

“As a parent, this is one of the proudest moments of my life,” Sean Combs said in a statement, according the The LA Times. “This is everything a father could want in his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do.”
