Kate Moss As David Bowie For Vogue Paris, Vogue UK (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 11/30/2011 10:45 am   Updated: 12/08/2011 12:31 pm

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Kate Moss is Vogue's favorite cover girl.

The supermodel has covered the magazine, including its international editions, over thirty times with some quite notable moments along the way (most recently: Moss' wedding pictures covered US Vogue's September issue).

So it's no surprise that every so often, the magazine begins repeating itself. This month's Vogue Paris features an utterly Ziggy-fied Kate, channeling David Bowie with a gravity-defying, orange hair 'do and an anchor tattoo for the mag's Music issue.

The cover is awesome, but we got the creeping feeling that we've seen this before... and we have. Moss channeled David Bowie for Vogue UK in May 2003, with photos of Kate by Nick Knight juxtaposed with vintage Bowie pics.

You can see the full Kate-turned-Bowie shoot here, but take a glance below: which cover's got the cool factor?

I'm a huge fan of the mossy one. I like her style -the whimsical way she throws accessories together, which has been copied by everyone from Sienna Miller to SJP. Unlike other models/actresses who think having turned a stint on a catwalk or given a sultry look to a camera's flash gives permission to venture into creating fashion, I actually think Kate has credibility as a stylist, if not a designer. But I honestly can't understand why she still generates this much interest in fashion. She doesn't have the body of a Gisele. She does not have the face of a Claudia. Unlike the other supers, she isn't tall, she doesn't have a particularly enviable body, and she's aged faster than her peers, she doesn't have particularly interesting views, doesn't have a particularly compelling life story, and looks a bit worn out, to be honest. And yet she perseveres. It's amazing to me.

it's cause she's a freaking chameleon. when she models, it becomes art. i love gisele, but she could probably never do high fashion as well as kate. we'd be too distracted by said-body.

I am glad to see MODELS on the covers of magazines again rather than 'celebrities' and actresses.

it would have been a real coup had they been able to put Bowie on the cover....and gotten an interview with the legend.

They're both cop-outs. The first one is a wig and the second one's lightning bolt is just an f'ing graphic add-on in post. When she actually cuts her hair like Bowies, or goes the distance by having the lighting bolt applied cosmetically, is when I'll vote. Or care.
02:10 PM on 11/30/2011
All that aggravation because of a week and a lighting bolt??
02:11 PM on 11/30/2011
Darn spell check......I mean wig not week ....LOL! I guess I made my point.....lighten up, it's Vogue!
