Hillary Clinton Revives Her Favorite Pantsuit Look For Visit To Myanmar (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 12/01/2011 7:53 am Updated: 02/24/2012 11:03 am

Continuing her recent tour in Asia, Hillary Clinton traveled to the country of Myanmar today in a critically important historical visit.

Clinton, who's the first secretary of state to visit the embattled country in over 50 years, made her trip to campaign for the release of political prisoners and call the country to break military ties with North Korea. No easy task, obviously.

And of course, since we're sartorially minded, we also scoped out what the Secretary was wearing.

She greeted leaders while wearing head-to-toe blue, clad in a boxy pantsuit. Everything matched, down to her robin's-egg-colored necklace and earrings. And there were no scrunchies or barrettes in sight, as Clinton kept her hair loose.

It's been awhile since we've seen the former First Lady in her signature pantsuit, which she seems to have eschewed (until now) on her recent travels in Asia; to visit Thailand this month, she opted for a green raw silk shirt, and she wore all black for her trip to the Philippines.

To visit the Shwedagon Pagoda, a Buddhist temple, Clinton ditched her tan heels and walked barefoot, in keeping with the temple's practices.

Hopefully Hillary wasn't ambushed by any streakers this time.

Check out the photos of Hillary's landmark visit to Myanmar below.

Blue was the color of the day and somehow Clinton knew that and matched. Smart lady.

Could HP have found a more unflattering picture of Mrs. Clinton?

Love this woman. I oftentimes wonder how things might have been different had the country not gone starstruck and Hillary had received the nomination. Don't let the manufactured lovefest between the Clinton's and Obama fool you. There were stark differences, disagreements between them duirng the Democratic primaries.

I for one find it refreshing to see a woman in leadership for this country...ACTUALLY LEAD! She is an intelligent human being that puts the needs of this country first rather than politics. There are a few others that could most certainly take a few notes and learn something...particularly before they speak!

Hillary Rodham Clinton speaking to Yale’s class of 2001:

"The most important thing I have to say to you today is that hair matters. This is a life lesson my family did not teach me, Wellesley and Yale Law School failed to instill: Your hair will send significant messages to those around you. . . . Pay attention to your hair, because everyone else will."

That is very true. We cannot change the way our faces look, but we certainly can enhance our looks with our hair styles.

Real deep statement Hillary. But I wouldn't expect anything deep from her.

The problem is yours. She was being factitious. Look it up in the dictionary.

She really is very, very smart and articulate. However, she really does need a makeover so that her physical presence enhances her intelligence.

She's busy and doesnt have a gaggle of handlers to tend to her appearance for your viewing pleasure. I dont care if she looks tired. She's busy accomplishing something you and I will never come close to accomplishing. She's entitled to look a bit tired.

Personally, I like she is growing her hair. She's going to rejoin the real world in 2012 and she looks like she is getting ready to relax a bit.

Your headline screamer "Hillary wears no shoes" is very misleading and insulting given that she had her shoes off as did the gentleman with her ........ the article explains it is the custom in that setting to remove your shoes.
I read a few days ago that you (HuffPost) has been advised to pump up your headlines and use words that make people want to read the article. I can understand the need for this type of expertise but I increasingly feel you mislead your audience. I for one find it maddening!!

the constant deception truly is maddening lily. all i can deduce from the practice is that they get paid by the click somehow.

And that's what makes Huffington Post the grocery store tabloid of the online news agencies. This has been HuffPo's practice for a long time. Yet the one-sidedness of many readers are still attracted to it for it's salacious headlines. Go figure.

This focus on the Sec of State's dress, hear and everything else adorning her, is not relevant and wouldn't be done if she were a man. I never once saw the press mention Colin P's tie color, hear style ..... And don't give me that this is the style section....... Either start covering all important people's wardrobe and hair style or none. Simple. You would be doing yourselves a favor .... you;d look considerably more intelligent and relevant!

She is not a physically beautiful woman but she make that up with her smarts and in her work for the good of our country. Imagine if the Republicans took notes from her and worked with pres Obama instead of being obstructionist because of an election loss.

She was very beautiful in the classic sense when she was in her youthful prime. I think she is equally beautiful now; we are just not accustomed to viewing age, wisdom and grace as physically appealing in women as we do men.

Hillary, If you read this please let me say you look wonderful in the blue pant suit. You are a very smart and I am sure organized woman but please get the hair cut or wear it up...It makes you look older than your years. I think a short wind blown style nice and feathery would look terrific. Please give it some consideration.

I agree brudele12. Her present hairdo is not at all flattering. If we can see that why can't she and her stylist as well? I always had long thick wavy hair, but realized one day that I was starting to look a bit like an old crone. When I asked my hairdresser if I should wear it shorter, she didn't even pause for a second before she blurted out YES! I got alot of complements and don't miss my chestnut tresses at all. Some older women look beautiful and classy in long hair, but Hil and I don't.

Honestly, Hillary's handlers probably care about her looks, but do you really think Hillary does? She is SOOO much more than a fashion or beauty icon. It's beyond trivial and irrelevant to her life.
02:52 PM on 12/02/2011
It is not trivial at all. She should care about how she looks in public. After all, she is a very powerful, intelligent woman and she should look and dress the part. She probably doesn't even realize it, but a few simple changes would be so beneficial to her.
