Jeremy Renner is considered one of Hollywood's next big action stars, but he's still got a few things to learn from the genre's icons before fully taking the torch.
Lesson one: don't puke on your heroes.
Renner co-stars with Tom Cruise in "Mission: Impossible IV - Ghost Protocol," playing a fellow agent Cruise isn't quite sure he can trust. While they were shooting a scene in which Cruise climbs along the side of the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Renner recently told a roundtable of reporters that he nearly lost his lunch just watching the shoot.
"Tom is out there, running around, doing his thing all over the building. And we're just standing there, sort of by the edge, and that is more terrifying," Renner said (as relayed by HitFix.com). "And then once I hung out, 30 seconds of near vomiting almost happened. ...Tom was laughing, he's hanging upside down; he's all red faced and he's like, 'Look at this view!' I'm like, 'What are you talking about? I'm gonna vomit on you.'"
No worries -- the gag reflex did not get triggered, and things went smoothly from there.
There's been talk that this film is a transition piece that will allow Renner to take over the famed spy franchise, but Paramount, the film franchise's home studio, shot that down on Wednesday. Still, the Oscar-nominee has plenty of other big budget action flicks coming up, including his first run in a reconfigured "Bourne" franchise, as well as his turn in "The Avengers."
