Steve Jobs' Vision Of The World: The Apple Founder's Words Of Wisdom (VIDEO)

Steve Jobs Vision

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 12/01/11 03:48 PM ET Updated: 12/01/11 09:31 PM ET

Steve Jobs lived life by his own rules.

The 46 second clip below, taken from the PBS documentary "Steve Jobs: One Last Thing," just about sums up the visionary tech leader's outlook on life. In the past few days, technology pundits like Nick Bilton of The New York Times, as well as everyday Apple fans, have found themselves inspired by the short interview.

In the clip, below, Jobs reflects on the shortness of life but also the opportunity nevertheless available to those willing to sieze it:

When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you're life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.

That's a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again.

Though Jobs was never one to hold back his thoughts, few knew much about his personal life. Many of these details were exposed posthumously in his official biography, "Steve Jobs," however, including an interesting incident in which he told President Obama that he was headed for a one-term presidency.

I sometimes wonder if the fact that he was adopted made him feel a little liberated as in having no empathy for anyone including his own parents. He seemed like a loner who was constantly searching for something. Being a loner liberated you in a way that you have no one to impress or have any emotional attachment whatsoever. Finally he did settle down with family and kids and it turned out great for everyone.

I read bits like this and think, there can be no other Steve Jobs by just trying to be him or following what he did. You have to experience it. Which is impossible. So hats off to the rebel and his creations.

That is a very powerful message. He sounds like Karl Marx. That is some very sound revolutionary thought there Steve Jobs. History is formed by man, not the other way around, all that we see and do are the effects of human drive in one way or another.

Something to merely think about for a few moments or to concentrate on and weigh your actions by--decide for yourself at your pleasure. Life is good.

I have to disagree. We are not all created equal. Not everyone is talented enough to change things or make a difference. Many of these challenged people sit in congress.

The fact is, most people are like Moe who thinks he's smart but, in actuality, he's just as dumb as the other two.

We are all equal in all ways that matter. We all have different talents, etc. That however doesn't change the basic fundamental fact. we are all human, and therefore all equal.

When was it recorded? And what was going on in his life at the time? In other words: context, context, context.

After reading some of the comments here, it's clear that the anti-fanboys can be just as annoying and ignorant as the Steve Jobs fanboys. Not everything is black and white folks.

I love reading the tech blogs whenever Apple comes up in mixed company, and the fanboi and anti factions begin ripping into each other! It's astonishing, the loyalty people have to their brands.

WOW. Alot of anger on the boards because of a 46 sec clip taken many years ago. I'll take wisdom where I can find it.

Many on the board are saying that SJ didn't do anything but sell toys. He (and his team) revolutionized how we interact on so many levels. To bash him seems to be bashing some of the great American businessmen, Ford, Disney, etc. Though his personal life had some turns, which is not specific to SJ, he turned two companies into gold. He was relentless with detail in all aspects of those businesses. Not sure why people seems to crucify him. The man is dead. Give him and his family some peace and if you agree with the fact that he contributed to the world then great. If not, go snark somewhere else.

Yes, many people use his technology in order to log into Facebook or go to Gmail, that's totally true. Without it, they would have to use one of the several dozen other routes to the things they use online.

OMG....I dont like telling you this because it contradicts your mom.

You are not the best. You are not that smart. You cant do anything you want.

It all takes very hard work and talent.
MANY people are better than you.
You just have to work harder and you still may not get there.
Relax and enjoy the best country on earth along the way.

He is here on the one hand trite, on the other egotisitcal, and full of hubris. Actually, I am smart enough to know that I am the beneficiary of a lot of effort by people a lot smarter and more capable than myself, on the other hand he has a point, we can contribute and accomplish more than we often realize. This is not profundity.

But the way most people tend to be their own worst obstacles to their own happiness, this simple message is rather profound.

Having the courage to think big, to do what others say is impossible, is in fact profound.
