Gun Ad Likens Obama To Hitler, Other Dictators

Obama

First Posted: 12/02/11 12:36 PM ET Updated: 12/02/11 12:36 PM ET

A new gun company advertisement compares President Obama to Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot and Joseph Stalin, warning about the possibility of stricter gun control laws if the president is reelected.

As CBS News reported Thursday, the USAAmmo ad places a picture of Obama next to images of some of history's most infamous dictators, calling them the "faces of gun control" and stating that "tyranny and gun control is only an election away." The ad, which was emailed out on Monday, also said that the Occupy Wall Street protests are "eerily reminiscent" of the rise of fascist dictatorships. An accompanying video details incidents of gun control throughout history, implying that millions of genocide victims could have been saved if they had been able to defend themselves with firearms.

In an interview with CBS, USAAmmo's director of operations Trace Williams stood by the advertisement and said that he did not regret the comparison between Obama and the dictators. "He's anti-gun and he's obviously a socialist cramming health care down Americans' throats," he said. "That is exactly how those people in that ad rose to power."

That would be news to gun control advocates. Despite reports that the Obama administration would unveil new gun control legislation in the wake of the January shooting in Tuscon, which left six dead and Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) critically wounded, the president has been nearly silent on the issue in recent months.

Last year, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence gave Obama an "F" on gun control policy, citing his "concessions to the 'guns anywhere' mentality of the gun lobby and lack of leadership for common-sense gun laws."

The left wing elites that control Obama want to disarm we "common folk" just as those tyrants did so it's not a stretch.

On the other hand, tyrants are good at agit-propaganda. Like the propaganda that US arms sales are fueling the Mexican drug wars now is proven to have been an intentional goal of the Fast & Furious scheme to route firearms to Mexican drug gangs through US straw purchasers. Recent emails uncovered by CBS News has BATF stating that clearly.

The cycle is simple--create or exacerbate a problem and then use government force to step in in order to correct the problem. Obama seems to have learned well from his mentors--his terrorist friends like Ayers and his US hating mentors like Rev. Wright.

While Obama is anti-gun, comparing him to those various dictators is a bit of a stretch. Obama's anti-gun beliefs are not a product of his desire to enable unfettered genocide on the disarmed. Obama is a "true believer". He's one of those types who has bought the Brady Campaign and VPC doctrine, hook, line, and sinker. That is where his anti-gun beliefs come from.

It also doesn't help that he was a resident of Chicago where the infringement of Second Amendment rights was ingrained into the local culture and considered good policy.

It also doesn't help that he is a member of the Chicago political society either. They don't want anybody to threaten their power base and stand up for themselves.

Pretty good summary. I wrote something similar to the folks at USAAmmo when I asked them to take down the ad. (I also asked that they remove Forest Whitaker's picture and post an apology for misusing it)

while I can sympathize with the hatred toward Obama, people should recognize that he is too lazy and stupid to do anything more than be an ex-president of the USA. Then Obama can visit his friends on Wall Street, the rich people on Martha's Vineyard, and his gay buddies in Chicago bath houses to his heart's content.

He's not lazy. He's been going and going. He needs a vaction from taking vacations. He just got back from a vaction and he's went right onto another one. Does he ever do anything in the office? OH, I forgot, photo ops.

Hilarious stuff.

Your hero Dubya will go down in history as the President who took the MOST vacations EVER!

Remember when Hurricane Katrina occurred? He was on VACATION!

Did he drop everything and respond like a true LEADER would?

Nah! He just continued to party and celebrate with McCain and friends.

And when he finally got off his backside and decided to do something - what did he do?

Yep - a PHOTO-OP!

And how about the "mission accomplished" PHOTO-OP???

And remember when he made that speech about the war in Iraq? He was on the GOLF COURSE playing - yep - GOLF!

Dubya will forever be remembered as the WORST President in US history and people like you should be forever reminded about what you did at the ballot box!

Unfortunately Obama does do some things--most of which are failures. I would prefer the president downgrade (or is it president food-stamp?) spent most of his time on the golf course. But the only problem with that are the many progressive ideologues (sorry for being redundant) he has placed into government. Such as Lisa Jackson, who is busy crushing what little remains of our anemic recovery with her plans to limit eevil CO2.

Dang! This Trace Williams has all the qualities to be a perfect running mate for one of the Repug/Teabag candidates.

But the candidates will have a difficult task choosing between Bill "I won't hire until Obama is out" Looman, Lauren "Giggle - assassinating Obama is tempting" Pierce, and Joe "I support the candidate who will tax me MORE" Plumber.

'How dare gun owners stand up for their civil rights, albeit with a bit of distasteful hyperbole. We will name-call them until they go away.' Does that about sum up your general strategy?

By your vehement opposition to gun rights, it would seem that you have complete, complacent faith in your government to take care of you, even on the eve of the most aggressive NDAA reauthorization ever, and even with a president who loudly opposed the Patriot Act, but then renewed it anyway. Best of luck with that. Governments have killed far more people than individual gun owners ever will.

You are correct.

When Dubya declared war on Afghanistan and Iraq, he contributed to the deaths of thousands of troops and innocent civilians.

Now that's a "mission accomplished" that Teapublicans should be very proud of.

Why do you keep bring up killing Obama like it is somebody else saying it. No where in all the post I read in this place or others did anyone threaten to kill Obama. There have only been two posts that mention that, and it has been YOU. Are you trying to say something? Are you the one that really want him killed?

I'm not particularly sorry to see it go. It was in rather poor taste, although I think a lot of the criticism of the ad was off-base.

I hope, at the least, that it caused some people to go and actually learn something about Obama. So many of his fans seem to know so little about his voting history. I can't tell you how many times I saw Obama-voters on this thread say "but Obama has never done anything about gun rights," when in fact his history belies him as one of the most anti-gun presidents ever.

Poor taste aside, I saw it a gimmick to sell ammunition, not much more. The company made news headlines, gotten their name out to the public. A month or two from now we'll all be saying, 'who?' if their name is mentioned.

That video incites violence and is appealing to and enraging an audience that is paranoid and unstable. The music and scenes are calculated to stir our primal emotions. While I certainly agree that guns are here and won't go away, and therefore it's good to own them, I don't want an arsenal in every one of my neighbors houses, and I don't want unstable people to own uzis. Most of my neighbors do have guns with which they hunt and shoot targets ... that's great! Nobody ever told them they couldn't ... and no body's trying to now. Every country has some sort of gun control, not just those listed in the video ... even in the early US west, some kinds of gun control were in place IE check your gun in with the local sheriff before going into the saloon etc. ... the examples in the video were countries taking away guns from it's citizens, not controlling guns belonging to it's citizens. And now having said all that ... consider the parallel situation of nuclear arms and "citizens of earth" ... why is it that the people who made this video and those stirred to emotion over it are the very ones who would deny, not just control, other country's nuclear weapons; would in fact start a war over it? Do they not see their own hypocrisy? After all, these countries just want to defend themselves against global government and their own perceived threat ... ...

The full-auto military Uzis or the civilian semi-auto Uzis?

Only in a few towns, only for a few years, and generally only if you were from out of town.

Brady Bunch response #1: When trying to recruit new people to our cause always imply, if not actually say that all types of fearful weapons, machine guns and weapons of mass destruction be available to all criminals at the local gun store. Always use the most fear instilling tactic possible. Wild West shootouts in the streets over the slightest provocation is very a good scenario. It is very important to make sure the new recruit understands that all kinds of illegal machine guns and military weapons will be in the school rooms for young children to handle and hold.
10:43 AM on 12/06/2011
Those are still types of gun control.

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Well regulated? Yes people have the right to own guns, but it's also clear that the government has the right to regulate. That's what gun fans call "gun control", The Constitution calls it regulation. FACT KIDS!

"Well regulated? Yes people have the right to own guns, but it's also clear that the government has the right to regulate."

The "well regulated" part only applies to the "militia". Refer to basic English grammar rules on modifiers.
01:32 PM on 12/05/2011
You might want to check your use of language. When the Second Amendment was written, "Regulated" as you are using the term was expressed as "Disciplined". "Regulated" is used in the same sense that a Clock is "Regulated". To be effective Smooth Bore Muskets need to be fired simultaneously by Ranks, hence "Regulated".

N.B. This old saw has been used by a number of notable people over the years. Former slave & fiery abolitionist/feminist orator, Frederick Douglass stands out in my mind. Douglass was also the 1st Black to have his name put into nomination for the Presidency of the United States, by the Great State of Kentucky. The year: 1888 ( the year my grand father was born ). The party: Republican, popularly known as, "The Party of Lincoln". Too bad all that ended with LBJ's "Great Society". Now, we are nothing more than a "permanent underclass." More is the pity.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined, nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants. They serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides from an unarmed man, may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
Thomas Paine (Founding Father)

Justices have disagreed on whether the amendment is intended to protect the right to bear arms as an individual right, or as a component of the "well-regulated militia."

Thomas Paine in the Address to Acting Governor Thomas Hutchinson, the day after the Boston Massacre, March 6, 1770-- I think, makes it very clear.

Thomas Paine was not one of the Founders.
He was an agitator and writer much respected by some, thought treasonous by others.
His brilliant, persuasive writing helped move our young nation to revolution, and on to independence. While doing that, he spent time in prison.

His words live on.
