Jay-Z and Kanye West didn't sit around in between their two Chicago shows this week. Instead, the pair -- along with Jay-Z's pregnant wife Beyonce -- dined on some great local food and mingled with Chicago fans.
On Thursday afternoon, West and Jay-Z headed to the South Shore neighborhood to meet with fans, NBC Chicago reports. The spot was reportedly chosen because it is referenced by Jay-Z in "Gotta Have It."
"Made a right on 79th, I’m coming down South Shore Drive."
According to Fake Shore Drive, the pair recorded excited fans on the South Side and played the video during their Thursday night show. (Fake Shore Drive has photos of the South Side visit here. )
After mingling with fans, Jay-Z headed north with Beyonce to check out Great Lake pizza in Andersonville, Eater Chicago reports. Great Lake, a tiny spot which is always busy after being named the best pizza in America, had a wait per usual, so the power couple headed next door to Vincent to wait for a table. Eater has more on what the duo tried at Vincent here.
West and Jay-Z played the United Center Wednesday and Thursday night as part of their "Watch the Throne" tour. On Wednesday, they broke their previous record by playing "N***** in Paris" eight times as an encore, but fans on the West Coast can expect even more of the song when they swing through Los Angeles, where they will reportedly play 13 versions of the song in one show.
After Thursday's performance, West (who grew up in Chicago) reportedly had a private, backstage after-party catered by Chicago's Harold's Chicken and Garrett’s Popcorn.
