Pamela Anderson As The Virgin Mary Video On 'A Russell Peters Christmas Special' For CTV

Pamela Anderson Russell Peters

Well this is an alternate take on the traditional bible story.

Canadians on Thursday night were able to get into the Christmas spirit with a raunchier version of the birth of Jesus on "A Russell Peters Christmas Special." Former "Baywatch" star and model Pamela Anderson was the focal point of one important sketch, playing a Virgin Mary whose virgin credentials -- and thusly Jesus's claim to holy lineage -- was drawn into question.

With Peters as Joseph and Jon Lovitz and Faizon Love as visiting Weissmen (not wise men!), the sketch was a basic parody on the Manger scene that is so often reenacted this time of year. Unfortunately, Michael Buble, who appeared later in the show, was not a part of this one, though he's well-known for his surprisingly raunchy sensibility.

So only the blonde middle-aged Mary struck you as strange? All the other characters here were normal and accurate in your mind?

All the people commenting about the irony of casting Anderson, or the incorrect ethnicities...wow. Just, wow. Half the joke is based on -her- as Mary. Not sure how anyone misses that.

They could have at least made her look the part. Mary was no blond, she looked like the people of that region, which were black coarse haired, and brown.

Had to break out the laugh track for this one.
When Monty Python spoof it... didn't need the laugh track.. because it was funny.

I usually like Pamela Anderson (mostly because of her work with animal rights and PETA), but this is just offensive.

Well, are there any pure American actress who would personify Mary? The media seems to have soiled them all.

The actual story of the Virgin Mary would shock most prudish Christians these days if they stopped to think about it. Mary was somewhere between 13 and 15 years old. Joseph, her fiancee, was probably in his 30's, as he had other children from a previous marriage and was probably a widower. So, by today's standards, Joseph would be a pedophile. Mary was an unwed teenaged mom. Had Joseph publicly exposed her, she would have been stoned to death. As it was, his marrying her anyway likely cost him both his reputation and business, since everyone simply assumed that he couldn't wait until marriage to bed her. If Mary really was impregnated by God, she risked her very life, and destroyed her reputation and that of her family, to bear Jesus. The issue here, for me, is not whether or not the story of the Virgin Birth is true. The story here is the narrowness and rules-based thinking of the religious. Unfortunately, although St. Paul warned against it, the Christian Church adopted an equally legalistic and moralistic way of looking at life. Religion cannot exist without rules and trying to meddle in the lives of others.

Oh for goodness sakes. Mary gave birth tio an illegitimate child according to the bible. She was married to Joseph and had a child by God? Pam Anderson never had a child out of wedlock . Anderson has been around as many times as Jennifer Anniston has or any of the other movie people.
She has been married a few times and the other movies start just sleep with their BF's for a while and then move on. You show me a movie person who should be a virgin and play that part and MARY was Not a Virgin..they call it a virign birth because she never had sex with God to get pg.

They couldn't find a better actress for the part. Seems like they are mocking Christianity. Pam Anderson was been passed around more than a joint at Woostock!
