Google Flight Search Gets Upgrade
On Thursday, Google announced an upgrade to their Flight Search feature, which first went live in September.
Using the tool, flyers could simply type in where they wanted to go "flights from Denver to Minneapolis" and be directed to a list of possible itineraries, which included prices, alternate dates and more. It was a nice feature, but according to a recent post on the Google Blog people wanted "more options to find flights and prices even more easily and quickly."
And that's exactly what Google says it has given them.
For select flights, the upgraded flight finder displays itineraries right in the web search results, automatically tailoring the results to the searcher's location. Would-be travelers can now adjust dates and times and even book their flights right on the search results page.
The tool is powered by ITA Software, a company Google bought in 2010. Popular flight booking services Kayak and Orbitz also use ITA Software's technology.
The service is currently restricted to domestic flights, although according to Tnooz, international flights should be coming to Flight Search soon.
