Florida Governor Rick Scott's Popularity Plunges To Record Low

Rick Scott Approval Ratings

First Posted: 12/06/11 01:28 PM ET Updated: 12/06/11 02:07 PM ET

For Rick Scott, every day's a new record -- and each one seems worse than before. New numbers from Public Policy Polling show the Florida Governor's approval ratings have hit a new low at 26 percent, a 7 percent slide from a previous personal worst this past June.

In fact, PPP says, the latest poll makes Scott the least-liked governor in the entire United States.

Scott’s numbers with Democrats are pretty much unchanged compared to then and his standing with independents has gotten a little better. What’s really caused the bottom to drop out for him is that even Republicans are starting to really sour on his leadership. In June Scott had a 63/30 approval spread with them. That’s now dropped all the way down to 46/31.

The poll suggests the former healthcare exec would lose a hypothetical rematch with also-ran Alex Sink, 53-37 -- and be crushed 55-32 if former governor (and Miami booty-lover) Charlie Crist reentered politics and ran against Scott tomorrow.

Perhaps worst of all, PPP said in a statement that Crist, with a 48 percent approval rating, enjoys the most love of any politician in Florida, including Barack Obama, Bill Nelson, and Marco Rubio. It's pretty slim pickings for the Sunshine State when no one currently in office can even hover near 50 percent.

Scott is so unpopular that even Republicans deny to have voted for him.

Crist is a good guy. I hope he runs again. He has integrity, and wanted to pull the plug on big insurance and power companies looting our State -- something that has started under Jeb Bush, and gets now even worse under Scott. . That's why the Republican establishment ha†ed him, and sabotaged him, so he couldn't get anything  Read More...

A prime example of why Democrats and independents must vote in the midterms. When turnout is low, Republicans get elected to infuse the country with apathy. Apathy breeds complacency, which is how corporations gain power in the halls of government.

Hey America:
It goes to show you have to keep awake on Politics at all time. Who would have thought the Republicans would win a majority in the last election? They caught America sleep and we all regret the voting blocks they are causing. But: As the O.D.T. (OBAMA DRAMA TIME) song says: "Hold your head High, and watch the Time FLY. America will always be FREE. Sellie Truitt

Thanks for rubbing it in.

But, I blame Alex Sink - truly. She ran an above board campaign, and if she had focused on his
shady dealings with the HMOs, to EXPOSE him for what a corrupt thug he was, she would have won by a mile.

Fighting dirty is what wins elections.

Unfortunately for us, Alex Sink ran on her merits and she has class.

Scott & Rubio, were elected with a hughe amount of support from the Tea Party, they are their
Darlings. The retirees who moved down here thought dressing up in tin foil hats and joining
the Tea Party was cute.

Here in Wisconsin, we are trying to recall our mistake. Can't Florida do the same? 4 years is a long time with a idiot running the nuthouse!

Nope, no recall provision on the books down here. It's pretty unlikely that they will pass one now, too :(.

There are many things to love about Florida, and I would like to someday be able to call it home, but as long as Floridians will allow themselves to be conned by charlatans like Scott, they will suffer from their mistakes & have no one to blame but themselves. The state I live in (Virginia) is just as red as Florida, but Virginians would NEVER elect someone like him to the state's highest office. If he had been less affluent, he'd have been in a 6" x 8" cell years ago, where he belongs.
08:47 AM on 12/09/2011
People down here are impressed by affluence. I think they thought "Hey this guy is super rich. He must know a lot. Let's elect him". Floridians are not politically the sharpest pencils in the pack. I live in Miami.

Then my most sincere advise for them is that they learn the concept of 'due diligence', and actually research a person before jumping on their platform. Sound bites & talking points are cute, but before a person gets MY vote, I want to know how they feel about the relevant issues they will be having major input into that will affect the way of life for me & my community.
I used to work for a Columbia/HCA facility & had heard all of the dirt on Scott, so him even being allowed to run for office, much less win it, was a true 'WTF' moment for me.

You know, I was watching some archived footage of Naz! propaganda the other day and it occurred to me that they had the exact same platform as the republican party... anti-union, anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti education, anti-minority, anti-communist, anti-democracy, anti-women and they also claimed that they were doing god's work.

They were also anti-socialist even though they used the term lull the rubes into thinking that they were going to get a share... which they never did.

Yet millions of rubes voted for him and regretted it later, much like the people of Florida.

Yep - the misnomer is a classic tool of the far right. It's not exclusive to the right, but as the right is disingenuous to the point of fantasy, it comes as no surprise when they will use names like "Citizens United" to promote rulings that actually damage the citizenry.

I know an uber-conservative in Florida who voted for Scott and is now up in arms that her school teacher pension and benefits are in his cross hairs. Funny how that works, conservative until effects you. Why a teacher in a union would think Scott wouldn't go after their benefits is beyond me.
