Its ironic that Huffpo did a story Monday on how horse meat is cooked and served around the world...... I am glad they balanced that out with this story. Save The Horses is very worthy and spot-on.

Something else to consider is that not every horsie is a nice horsie. Those that are calm and gentle enough for anyone to ride are actually quite rare. Also, a horse's training regresses to the level of the rider. So, even a million dollar champion would become less reliable and less well trained after 30 days of riding and handling by a novice horse owner.

The horse industry, themselves, play a huge part in their massive over population of horses. It is estimated that every year just the Quarter Horse breeders alone, breed over 130,000. Thoroughbreds 45,000-55,000. The horse market plummeted, and yet they continue to breed the same amount of horses, of which 100,000 are send to their bloody deaths a year.

Pfiser, the big pharma, sells about 30,000 babies 5 month old babies to slaughter every year, as part of their Premarin drug program. 30,000. Then have a the nerve to hold conferences on what do to with "unwanted" horses, when they contribute 30,000, themselves.

Just like the canine industry, the horse breeders have turned a blind eye to their own abusive business ethics, at the expense of the lives of creatures who have no voice.

Horsemen, stop your exploitation, over population and horrendous, barbaric slaying of your horses. Back yard breeders, stop it.

eDUCATION iS kEY... WHY NOT PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR OWN TITLE. Thousands of horses have been abandoned since the crash. Shelters are full & "free horse" goes unclaimed. If they are shipped to Mexico it is worse than death. If sent to Canada they still die. If slaughterhouses are open in the US at least the horses will not endure being shipped which can mean no food or water, broken legs en route & bad technique at the end. Cows are no less deserving of life than horses.
SO many kids need families , love, safety, good food and an education. This world can't save EVERYONE & EVERYTHING. Priorities need to be held to. CORRECT education is priority number one then less kids & from families that are healthy mentally & physically;smaller houses & autos) and treat nature as if it were irreplaceable, because it IS.

some people do not have such a tiny shriveled heart that they can only manage compassion for people OVER other sentient beings.

until the human race realizes we are NOT the only species on the planet, we just act like it, we aren't going to be able to make ANY real progress with the world around us.

Slaughter? Where? Only places that even take Horse's are Zoo's and animal parks to feed to predators..They don't pay for the carcass either there donated..Or the Rendering plant again they don't pay..At least not anymore and then it was only a pittance not enough to cover the transport cost. Horses don't pay for the fuel it takes to ship them to Canada or Mexico unless within a few hundred miles. Slaughter scam stories are a common hard luck story people into horses hear a lot..It's very rarely true..People losing jobs getting ill or just plain dying become unable to feed care for their horse. For These mundane reasons countless horses are put down. News often doesn't tell this reality in preference for the Dramatic "STORY"

Blessings to this woman. Blessings Blessings Blessings.
Everyone who recognizes what an atrocity Congress and our President committed by voting and signing this in, needs to contact their representatives on all levels and let them know. This bill being passed was sneaky...and unacceptable. It MUST be stopped NOW. From an evolutionary level, we are heading in the WRONG direction here!!!!
