Google Currents: Newsreader App For Android, iPhone, iPad Debuts (PICTURES, VIDEO)

It's Google, back with another one!

The prolific web company has released a new newsreader app called Google Currents, available now, for free, on both iOS and Android devices.

Google Currents allows users to subscribe to certain publications and flick through their content, similar to the way you would in a digital magazine (and similar to the way you would on Flipboard).

Currents users can subscribe to the provided publications of their choice -- 180 editions at launch from over 150 publishing partners -- as well as any website with an RSS, Video or Photo feed.

As of the app's release, all subscriptions are free, though noticeably absent are publications that charge for content, like paywalled newspapers The New York Times and Wall Street Journal and magazines like The New Yorker.
