Rick Perry Makes Gaffe, Says U.S. Is At War With Iran

Rick Perry Gaffe Iran

12/08/11 03:28 PM ET  AP

OKATIE, S.C. -- Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry is correcting himself after saying the US is at war in Iran instead of Iraq.

At a campaign stop Thursday in South Carolina, a woman asked the Texas governor his views on current U.S. military operations and how they compare to the nation's role in World War II.

Perry began the answer by talking about Iran and Afghanistan before someone in the audience interrupted him. The Texas governor quickly realized he misspoke, joking that the comment "will be on the front page."

Similar gaffes have plagued Perry, including an incident last month when he forgot, during a presidential debate, which of three federal agencies he had proposed to abolish.

Well, it sounds like Perry misspoke rather than making a huge gaffe again like his forgetfulness of the three departments he would abolish. Perry is likely projecting though. He would favor a war with Iran. I think most of the Republican candidates, except Huntsman, have demonstrated a willingness to shoot first and ask questions later concerning Iran. This flightiness is the problem with the GOP hopeful,  Read More...

I know one thing, we have a lot of smart, funny people in this country and that I can tell just from the posts on this forum. Surely they can find someone better than all these clowns running for the most important, prestigious job in the USA. Except we already have one in office that makes these fools look like GENUINE NUTCASES. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012

Are these really the only people out of a population of 300 million that can run for president in America? There is something seriously wrong with the political system.

If there was a U.S. Civics test that Presidential Candidates had to take and pass before running for President, we'd narrow that field down really fast.

I've always found the claim that conservatives are some kind of magical "experts" on foreign policy to be hilarious. Clearly as hilarious as their claims of being experts on taxes, or the economy, or education, etc etc etc ad naseum.
