Andrew Garfield: 'Amazing Spider-Man' Hangs Out On Lamp Post (PHOTOS)

While two massively anticipated comic book films stoke up excitement for their upcoming summer releases, another mega-franchise slated for a mid-2012 unspooling is waiting in the wings, slowly re-shooting scenes and just hanging loose.

Quite literally, on that last point.

Andrew Garfield, the new Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man big screen reboot, showed off his character's arachnid-gifted powers as he stood on a lamp post on set Thursday, either waiting for action to be called or acting in a scene that illustrates teen Parker's dual life. If you ignore the harness in the photo, it's a wildly awesome scene, especially as he sneaks some texts.

In a case of life imitating art, if the cameras were rolling, Garfield could have been sending messages to Gwen Stacey, his on-screen girl; or, if he was waiting for action, he could have been sending them to Emma Stone, his off-screen girl -- who plays Stacey in the movie.

Eat your hearts out, Batman and The Avengers.
