Elizabeth Taylor once said, "I adore wearing gems, but not because they are mine. You can't possess radiance, you can only admire it."

On December 13, such admiration will go to the highest bidder when Christie's New York presents 80 of Elizabeth Taylor's most iconic jewels in the first of a four-day series devoted to the late cultural icon and celebrated star. Among Taylor's gems, the private collection boasts historic jewels, cherished gifts and one-of-a-kind creations.

Next week's auction marks the the culmination of a three-month global tour of public exhibitions with select highlights from the legendary collection, which traveled to London, Los Angeles, Dubai, Geneva, Paris, and Hong Kong. According to Christie's, the total selection of 269 magnificent jewels is estimated to achieve well in excess of $30 million.
