Did someone say eggnog ice cream? Yes, it's true! The ice cream gods have granted our wish. Talenti, one of our favorite gelato and sorbet brands, has come out with an eggnog gelato just in time for the holidays.
At first we were skeptical. We're pretty picky about our frozen desserts here at Kitchen Daily. The editors don't just go for any frozen product. But when Talenti sent us a pint of its new eggnog gelato, we were intrigued to say the least. And we were ready with our spoons raised!
What's The Verdict?
Many of us loved it, others were a little bit ambivalent. But the general consensus was that it would be even better if served with a dessert like pie than on its own. So if you're out shopping and you happen to come across Talenti's new holiday flavor, give it a try. You might be pleasantly surprised!
Here's what our editors have to say:
"It took me a while to taste the flavor in this ice cream. But after a couple of bites it began to grow on me, and I could taste some sort of boozy undertone. I don't mind eating it, but would not go out of my way to purchase it."
"Luxurious texture, and not too sweet. I wish it had more nutmeg."
"Tastes a little bit like banana, but most commercial eggnogs do. I'm not sure I could eat a bowlful of this, but it would be nice alongside a slice of cinnamon-spiced apple pie."
"Tasty, exactly what I would hope an eggnog gelato would taste like."
"The texture is not as smooth as I expected, but the flavor is spot on -- just like eggnog. This would be great served on pie."
