Weekend Metro Delays: 4 Work Zones Will Force Trains To Share Same Track, Reduce Service

Expect Weekend Metro Delays, Reduced Service On All Lines

WASHINGTON -- If you're using Metrorail this weekend, watch out for three work zones that will force trains to share the same track through four work zones and reduce train service frequency on some lines.

Orange and Blue Lines: Due to trackwork on the Blue and Orange lines in the vicinity of Rosslyn, Blue Line trains will share the same track between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery while Orange Line trains will share the same track between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon. Blue and Orange Line trains will leave their terminals every 20 minutes, meaning that there will be service every 10 minutes at stations served by both lines -- Rosslyn through Stadium Armory.

Red Line: Due to two work zones where trains will share the same track -- Van Ness to Friendship Heights and Takoma to Forest Glen -- there will be reduced service on the entire line. While Red Line trains will service the city's core between Van Ness and Takoma every 12 minutes, trains will service the work zones and the ends of the lines every 24 minutes.

Green and Yellow Lines Green Line trains will share the same track between U Street and Georgia Avenue but minimal delays are anticipated. Yellow Line trains will terminate at Mount Vernon Square and not service stations north to Fort Totten.
