The National debuted two new songs on Toronto’s Q1 LIVE -- "Rylan" and "I Need My Girl" -- and they are, as usual, reliably good. No word on where these songs will end up, but we're not concerned. The band has had a busy year riding the mainstream success of High Violet, contributing to soundtracks for indie films and video games, and generally incepting the world with their sentimental songs. As National frontman Matt Berninger put it back in October, "We'll be making a record as soon as we get our confidence to make it." Strength, boys, strength.
