Epic New Look At 'The Dark Knight Rises' Reveals Legend's End

Last week, Christopher Nolan introduced the menace of Bane to a few lucky filmgoers. Now, the public at large is getting its first real chance to understand just how much havoc the hulking villain will wreak throughout Gotham.

Spoiler alert: it's a lot.

Warner Bros. has unveiled a new poster for "The Dark Knight Rises," and in the process, has seemingly revealed a crucial plot point to Christopher Nolan's epic Batman finale. Bane, who will be played by Tom Hardy, was introduced to comic book fans in an early 90s storyline that saw him become known as "The Man who Broke the Bat" following his ruthless snapping of the caped crusader's back.

With the poster showing Bane walking away from a shattered mask -- as well as the twitter photo that showed Hardy, in costume, holding a crew member over his knee like Bane does to Batman in the comic -- it's pretty clear that this storyline will somehow be featured in the film.

Nolan himself said that this movie, which takes place eight years after 2008's "The Dark Knight," will feature a weaker Batman in a lesser physical state. Add that to the fact that the first trailer shows Gary Oldman, as Commissioner Gordon, pleading for a return from his hero, and you can be pretty certain that orthopedic drama is in store for this summer's epic conclusion.
