They could have done much better with the surfing shots. What happened to this year's Billabong Pro Tahiti photos? Arguably some of the most dramatic shots of the year no matter what sport you compare them to. Also, there have been some great ones from Shipstern's bluff, Mullahgmore Head, Supertubos, etc.... But what do they do? Put up some random photo of some kook bailing on a wave in Australia!!!!!

There's some really nice shots there, but I'm surprised there was no picture of Garrett McNamara setting the world surfing record, riding a 90 Foot Wave in Portugal. None of these photos even come close to comparing with that.

And yes, it becomes very important to have a means of retrieving your board in waves of consequence. Although they do break and they will do nothing for you if your board breaks

I'm by no means a photography expert, so I don't know the technical merit of these pictures. However, they captured so much heart and had such artistry that I was captivated by them. Bravo!

incredibly dissapointed that Rugby was left out of the sports photos this year. This year was the Rugby World Cup and it was the top viewed international sporting event in 2011. You couldn't at the very least include a photo of the New Zealand All Blacks Maori Hacka or something of that sort...
