The Holiday Treats We Just Can't Resist: HuffPost Holiday Food Vices

At HuffPost Healthy Living, we've been talking a lot about how to stay healthy and fit during this season of overindulgence.

The average person gains about a pound this time of year -- maybe not as much as you'd think -- but studies suggest you never lose that particular bundle of holiday joy.

But we also know the holidays are a time when many people expect to indulge -- at least a little. Holiday meals are often steeped in years of tradition that can be hard to break, and tempting treats are constantly within reach.

That's why we asked staffers at AOL Huffington Post Media Group to share the decadent holiday treat they just can't resist. Read on for their picks -- then tell us, what will you be indulging in this year?

Pretty much anything salty and greasy is a vice for me. For the holidays in particular, though, my vices are starchy: stuffing, mashed potatos, white rice. Those three things will always be on my plate in great quantites, all smothered in gravy. Yum!

My Vice- homemade cheese bread! Taste so good right out of the oven! Cookies can also be very dangerous. I've even been using some cookie lists to change things up a little and try new recipes: http://www.skinnyscoop.com/list/TheBudgetDiet/indulge-best-dessert-recipes

Some of these I am happy to eschew, but the star of the holiday party table was missing. Lipton Onion dip with Ruffles. This is like crack to me. I can walk past miles of sugar but this oniony sour cream mix gets me every time.

My holiday favorite is sweet potato pie. Fortunately, the sweet potato is an excellent health food.

My late mother made weird stuff for Xmas so Dad and I wouldn't eat them. Her fav stuff was dates with sugary cream cheese and nuts.I would eat the middle part only.Another nasty thing she made was grapefruit peel candy along with her just as bad fruitcake cookies with hardly any batter and too much fruit.Paula Deen made Ooey Gooey Butter Cake famous.Sad to say I am a better cook than my Mother was but I don't really make Xmas cookies.I do make the famous haystacks (look it up on Google ) when my kids are home for the holidays.I have to watch the sugar too.Another cookie like the haystacks I didn't get when growing up is the no bake cookies with p b and oatmeal.I do have some from the store, the choc ones are better than the p b ones.
