The Rise and Fall Of The Recipe Card

When my great-grandmother Pauline died 20 years ago, my mother requested only one item from among her possessions: her old recipe file. Not that Mom needed it for practical reasons; by then she’d known for decades how to make the sour cream raisin pie and overnight rolls and boiled fudge described therein.
