Rosie O'Donnell Sounds Off On David Letterman Diss (VIDEO)

Rosie O'Donnell may be newly engaged to girlfriend Michelle Rounds, but she isn't letting her pre-marital bliss get in the way of taking a dig at David Letterman after the late-night talk show host made an "antigay" joke at her expense last week.

On last Tuesday's episode, Letterman quipped, "The woman she is marrying, her fiancée, was driving…and her car broke down. And guess what happened? Rosie pulls up right behind her in her tow truck."

As evidenced on Friday's episode of "The Rosie Show" on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), the 50-year-old O'Donnell was clearly incensed by the remark: "I don't remember making fun of you when you had sex with all your interns, Dave," she said. "I didn't do that. I didn't make fun of your rampant, throbbing heterosexuality, did I Dave?"

In true Letterman style, she fired off a "Top Five" list of reasons why she refuses to appear on "The Late Show." Among them: "Not only do you appear to be anti-gay, you're anti-tow trucker."

Comedy is not supposed to be a platform to sharpen an axe. Used to be a fan of "Ro's" not any more. I give this show 2 years max. Then "Ro" will be on to her next attention-seeking stunt.

Attacking Rosie (a strong disobedient woman) is the default position of insecure unfunny old men. What is the problem is that decent people let them get away with it. It was a nasty anti fat/gay/female joke that would never have been made to most other people. Rosie has done nothing to deserve the hate besides standing up to bully men. And their many enablers like Letterman.

Here we go again. As soon as things look up for Rosie, she starts picking public fights and ruining her own success. I think it's called self-sabotage and it's no fun to watch. It's tiresome.

I didn't get anything "anti-gay" from that Letterman quip. If you change the gender of the fiancee, the joke doesn't change. I suppose you could call it sexist, but that's about it.

I have to agree. I have many gay friends and family, so I take it to heart when people make insensitive comments, but I think Rosie may have overreacted. It's like you said, the joke definitely sexist, but it wasn't anti-gay. I think it's sad we reached a point that when two people disagree it's never about difference of opinion anymore it's: "Ethnicity/Race/Sexual Orientation/Regilious Belief (or lack)/Gender #1 Vs. Ethnicity/Race/Sexual Orientation/Regilious Belief (or lack)/Gender #2"

I don't get the joke, then. I'm guessing he means that because she's a lesbian and she's not feminine, she must be driving around in a truck? In which case, it is kind of a homophobic joke. But the most offensive part, really, is that it's not even funny. I'm guessing if he made a joke that was funny and wasn't just like "LOL! LESBIANS!" maybe she wouldn't be that upset.

My fav Rosie moment.

She had a talk show about 15-20 yrs ago and had Tom Selleck on. He thought they were going to talk about his new movie and Rosie ends up attacking him cuz he is a gun advocate. Selleck, confused by the attack then accuses Rosie of promoting guns. She denies it and Selleck reminds her that her bodyguards all carry guns and that she does commercial­s for Kmart, which sells guns and ammunition.

Rosie was speechless (probably the only time in her life) and after 2-3 seconds of silence, they went to an immediate commercial­. Thanks for the laugh Rosie

What a bunch of little boys here. That have no idea about real life at all. Maybe if kept your mouth shut most of the time people might think you are a loving being. You will learn what it is to be human by the time you leave this planet. Just think of all the love you could have been giving all that time, WASTED... look up what compassion means for your sake.
