Kyle Voissem, Chicago Man, Allegedly Dumped Boiling Water On His Dog

Boiling Water On Dog

First Posted: 12/14/11 10:02 AM ET Updated: 12/14/11 10:02 AM ET

A Chicago man was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty after he allegedly threw boiling water onto his dog, severely burning it after it urinated on the floor in his apartment.

Kyle Voissem, 20 of the 1700 block of South Desplaines Street in the city's East Pilsen neighborhood, reportedly became angry after he witnessed his dog urinating on the floor as he was boiling water to make macaroni and cheese on Tuesday, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Voissem then dumped scalding water onto his dog, leaving the pet with severe burns to its head and torso, according to CBS Chicago.

Voissem was arrested Tuesday afternoon and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 26. No updates have yet been made public about either the dog's whereabouts or condition.

And to think he is training to be a practitioner in criminal justice. It makes one shudder....the irony is too palpable.

Hey guys, this link works. We still need more signatures so this idiot can get the punishment he deserves. If anything, hopefully it will help future animals that have been wrongfully abused.

.............as awful as this guy's behavior was.........it disturbs me even more that so many people want to pour boiling water on HIM. He is obviously disturbed and needs anger management therapy. If he is found guilty, I believe he should also be removed from the school's gymnastics team, any scholarships forfeited and sentenced to 8000 hours of community service at a local shelter, where he can be monitored cleaning up the animal cages.

That does not disturb me at all! Animals are defenseless.

We have a contract with Kyle Voissem and on the contract he agreed to take good care of our dog. We gave Bryon to him hoping Bryon can have a better life style. This was in June 2011. He sent a few pictures but after the second update it was very hard to get any information about the dog. We didn't hear anything from him for awhile, noticed his Facebook and Twitter had been deleted, googled his name and found this shocking and disturbing news. In our re-homing contract it states that he can not use cruel or abusive methods to train Bryon. That we should be contacted if things didn't work out. Kyle Voissem needs more punishment than just being arrested for a misdemeanor in animal abuse. He did not disclose our contract to Animal Control, or the Police. We never received any kind of call. Bryon was a very well behaved dog. My Finance Sonya loved the dog so much, but she agreed to re homed Bryon, at the time my allergy was getting worse and she didn't want me to suffer, and thought it was the right thing to find someone that can take better care of Bryon with more time and exercise. We are shocked and very frustrated and have no other information or what to do at this time. We hope to visit Bryon and make sure he is okay, or at least receive some good news.

Hi this is extremely sad news, because I am the original owner that adopted Bryon and then rehomed him. I adopted Bryon when he was 6 months old at Chicago Animal Care and Control. My Finance Sonya and I were stressed out with business and couldn't take care of 5 animals at that time. We wanted the best for Byron and didn't want him to end up back at AC. I posted Bryon on craigslist with a re-homing fee to detour abusive owners, and that's when Kyle Voissem contacted me and wanted to adopt Bryon. He seemed like a decent guy, in college and on the gymnast team. We choose him because Byron needed an active lifestyle. Kyle promised to take pictures for us and keep us updated every month. We are horrified about what happened to Bryon. Bryon was trained extremely well by Sonya and was well behaved. He knew over thirty tricks and commands, with a gentle nature.

The dog has been adopted by a family after being rescued from The Anti-Cruelty Society's Humane Investigators and treated at the shelter's clinic in Chicago.

Any "person" who would commit such a cruel act against a dog would not hesitate to do the same to a child. I bet his mom is really proud.

Not really. People who abuse animals often go on to abuse women, children, and anyone whom they perceived is weaker than they are. Read up on this issue in some psychology books.

Yup. Good chance there's a future child abuser right here. He may have learned this behavior from his mom.

I agree, but you can't change the law AFTER a crime is commited...

Misdemeanor? So would it also be a misdemeanor to dump boiling water onto this cruel and dangerous "animal"? I refuse to be carried away by revengeful thoughts, but I just have to point out that "just a misdemeanor" does not seem to fit the crime.
