Dog 'Comes Back To Life' Before Being Buried (VIDEO)

The McKinlay family was devastated when their family dog Scamp escaped through a fence and got hit by a car on Dec. 3. But the 8-month-old Yorkshire Terrier Shih Tzu puppy surprised his owners the next morning when he was not only awake, but sitting up.

Reta McKinlay of Yelm, Washington told the Olympian newspaper that she and her husband were sure the dog had been killed in the collision.

"Scamp was bleeding; his eyes were fixed," McKinlay said in an interview with the paper. "We didn't feel breath on his chest or on his nose."

They broke the sad news to their twin 6-year-old grandchildren, then Reta's husband took Scamp outside, wrapped him in a blanket and placed him under a wheelbarrow so he could be buried the following day, the Associated Press reported.

But when they returned in the morning, Scamp, despite his injuries, had ... come back to life? Or rather it had recovered consciousness and was sitting up.

Even though they racked up a total of $3,000 in veterinarian bills, the entire family was ecstatic to see their pet escape with his life.

"We just said miracles happen, and maybe we were wrong and maybe because everyone was sad and praying, maybe God decided to let him live," McKinlay told the Olympian.

Scamp isn't the first miracle dog to grab headlines in 2011.

Earlier this year, a puppy was euthanized and then found alive the next day, while another dog managed to escape the gas chamber.

Scamp has completely recovered... All grandchildren love him very much. The veterinarian said the only reason Scamp did live is because his brain didn't swell in the outside temperature, that has been confirmed by 2 other veterinarians. Scamp is a miracle... For those of you who think we are such bad people and don't love are dog..
P.s. We were invited to be on the show the View and we turned it down since we didn't want to take the chance of having Scamp travel.

That is truly a miracle. Now who says miracles don't happen? I hope and wish that such miracles take place every day. I hope miracles like these not only take place in urban households but also in the wilds of America, in farmlands and in places where animals are hunted or trapped or killed. We need miracles in not only in the US but in Bosnia, Ukraine and China too. The greatest miracle will be when humankind abandons cruelty of all shades and descriptions and gives enough opportunity for all creatures on this planet to live without the fear of man.

I had a Doberman who was hit and dragged a hundred yards under a car on RT 1 back in the 70's. When the car finally stopped, he crawled out the other side and ran back under the porch at the house. The vet said he just had scratches and no head injuries. He lived a long and happy life after that, but never went out in the road again.

I wouldn't count the dog out just for running into something. I'd have gotten him some help instead of telling the kids sorry about your dog oops better luck next time,Hopefully they parent their kids a little better than thaqt.

That poor little puppy. Why didn't they take him to a Vet immediately?
10:05 AM on 12/17/2011
Because his vital signs were indiscernible. It happens. He's a cute little guy, and I hope he makes a full recovery, and lives a long life. I'd be heartbroken if anything happened to my little guy and he's 16 already (as of yesterday).

He looks just like my little Max. I just cannot understand them just coldly righting him off as dead and stashing him that way without taking him to a vet for confirmation. I find it shocking.
