Karl Rominger Statement: Sandusky Lawyer Claims Shower Comments Not About Client

12/15/11 06:44 PM ET   AP

CARLISLE, Pa. — An attorney for former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky said Thursday his recent comments about some children needing instruction on how to shower did not apply to his client.

Carlisle attorney Karl Rominger said during an interview with WHTM-TV earlier this week that troubled youths sometimes have to be taught basic life skills "like how to put soap on their body."

Rominger said in a statement Thursday that he only was giving a hypothetical example of why a person might shower with an adolescent. He noted he never said Sandusky touched boys in a shower.

"I would like to clarify that I am not suggesting that this is what happened in this case," Rominger said. "We maintain that whatever happened between Jerry Sandusky and any youth was not criminal in nature."

Sandusky is charged with more than 50 counts of child sex abuse. Sandusky has said he is innocent and said in interviews that he showered with boys and "horsed around" but never sexually abused them.

Oh my God! I think Jon Stewart was right when he commented about Sandusky and his lawyers - "What kind of sick guy's club do you all belong to?".

Sandusky has himself a crackerjack team of lawyers doesn't he? I do not predict an OJ-like ending. This guy is done. I only wish child molestation was a Captial offense.

(50 counts) inappropriately behavior while showering. Seems to me he exploited the amenities and trust of those at and around Penn State that a College Coach has in the locker room, while others looked away, and embellished him even, to where it were almost second nature and part of the Penn State who's who and what's what, am I right? Break em left, and move up the right, blood bath, shut out, no contest, you lose.

You're kidding right? That's his defense? Guess he's just enjoying the payday. Clearly doesn't expect to win the case.
