Mariah Carey's $300,000 Asking Price Was Too Much For 'X Factor' (REPORT)

Mariah Carey's $300,000 price tag was simply too much for the folks over at the "X Factor," according to a report from Showbiz411.

The article claims that the pop star was set to perform her revamped version of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" together with Justin Bieber on the December 15th episode of "X Factor," but the staggering asking price led even Simon Cowell to nix the program.

Would Carey and Bieber have reenacted their slightly awkward flirting-in-a-shopping-mall music video? Would they have blown remaining "X Factor" contestants Melanie Amaro, Chris Rene, Josh Krajcik and Marcus Canty out of the water? Who knows! In exchange, though, Bieber is reportedly performing solo (songs "The Christmas Song” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”) with a back-up of two dozen dancers for the singing competition's December 22 finale.

Rabid Mariah fans in dire need of Carey-caroling need not worry: the recent mother of twins is set to appear on a Music Choice on Demand holiday special entitled, obviously, "Merry Christmas from Mariah Carey," starting December 19.

$300K for Mariah Carey to sing one song? Nah. That's overpriced by, oh, about $299.9K.

she still has a great voice but shes not as in demand as she used to be. could be why she puts such a high price tag on her performances as you don't see her doing a whole lot. I used to love her til her music went ghetto and all started to sound the same. I think if they were going to shell out 300,000 it'd be for Bieber since he IS a high demand performer.

If you don't want to pay her rate, don't hire her. How much does Simon get for being sarcastic. He has no talent. Entertainment money doesn't follow any logical pattern. Look at Kardashians and Paris Hilton. At least Mariah has talent.

Tis all show biz. Had no rhyme nor reason.

I am glad someone finally said no, that is simply pure greed. I read one of the comments about how she would have helped the ratings, and generated advertiser revenue. My thought was that it would be the other way around. See would have been seen by more people than have seen her all year. The X Factor does not need her help on ratings, and it is questionable if she have raised the ratings.

..Could be Mariah asked that price hoping they would not accept; appearing on X-Factor won't exactly enhance her super stardom....whether one likes her or not...she's in the driver's seat with her career...good for her...she has earned her choices..and l don't think her asking price was out of line...

If they put her on some show we would just turn the channel to something better. Problem solved.

$300K for a TV spot is a bargain. She gets $1 million to sing for dictators.

$300,000 is not that unusual of an asking price for a major headline artist whether you like her or not.

Her christmas song doesn't compare to joy to the world or even white christmas. In fact it fits perfectly alongside the crass commercialism the world tries to force feed us........its a christmas song because it has the word "christmas " in it and it's sung by Mariah.....so it MUST be good. Lets play it ad nauseum on the christmas music radio stations....blah blah blah
