Weekend Guide: The Nutcracker, Skrillex, And Santacon

12/16/2011 03:25 pm ET

Although it's 75 degrees and sunny, you can still get in on the holiday spirit with The Nutcracker, a holiday ice skating rink, and a Santa-themed pub crawl this weekend. For the Grinches who just want to party like any other weekend in Miami, there's Skrillex, a scream-turned dubstepper, and a skateboard fundraiser for Cuba.

The Nutcracker
Arsht Center's Ziff Ballet Opera House
Friday and Saturday, 7:30pm; Sunday, 6:30pm
Tickets: $20 to $68

See Miami City Ballet perform George Balanchine's The Nutcracker at the Arsht Center tonight through Sunday. MCB's principal dancer Jennifer Kronenberg plays the spritely Sugar Plum Fairy. Her cavalier is played by her real-ife partner, Carlos Miguel Guerra. South Florida Classical Review called MCB's production "sheer magic."

Skateboard Rodeo
Westwind Lakes Skate Park
Friday through Sunday
Admission: $10

Amigo Skate Cuba fundraises for artist, skaters, and musicians living in Havana. This weekend, they're hosting their second annual Skateboard Rodeo with other area non-profits. Events include the highest ollie contest, barrel jumping, and skateboard death races.

Skrillex With 12th Planet
Fillmore Miami Beach
Saturday, 7:30pm
Tickets: $30 and up

Former frontman for scream band From First to Last, Skrillex now turns all his tweaking energy to dubstep's little annoying sibling, brostep. Saturday, the DJ and producer plays Fillmore Miami Beach with 12th Planet and Nadastrom.

Santacon
Starts at The Floridian
Saturday, 6:30pm
Free

A sort-of red-hued pub crawl or holiday flash mob, Santacon is when hundred of South Floridians dress like Saint Nick and get their drink on. It starts at the Floridian and winds its ho-hoing down at the Green Room for a free drink for every santa.

Holiday Ice Rink
InterContinental Miami
Everyday until January 15
$20/hour

Make up for Miami's lack of seasons, snow, snowmen, snowflakes, iciles, and hocky fans by hitting the pop-up ice skating rink at InterContinental Miami. There's even a full bar, so can numb your bumps and bruises with a little whiskey.
