Mary-Kate Olsen Brings 'Homeless Chic' Look Back (PHOTOS)

Remember Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's signature "homeless chic" look?

It looks like the famous sisters haven't left their layered look behind. Mary-Kate stepped out in New York this weekend wearing ripped black jeans, black lace-up boots, an oversized red scarf, a gray wool coat and a black leather bag, probably by The Row (we're thinking it's a black version of the Doctor Bag).

MK's off-duty number reminds us of the old days, when the twins toted around their NYU homework in purses the size of duffle bags and Starbucks cups almost as big. The twins got flack for the look, as Style.com pointed out recently. MK + A explained:

Ashley: That moment for us was us waking up, going to school, and not wanting anyone to take our picture. Kind of a piece of protection.

Mary-Kate: For me, it was so cold, like the wind chill. How could you not put on 20 things when you're going from Los Angeles to walking through the snow? ... I think it was probably that. And laziness.

Lazy? We don't believe it. That level of disheveled perfection is a look only an expert Olsen could achieve. Check out MK below.

People who don't get this style of dress dont understand what it eans to travel under the radar. If you know you're closet is impressive (so you have nothing to prove) but you dont feel like being noticed, don't want any conversation, or in their case would rather not be photographed; you dress in a way that says (jedi wave) You don't see me. Besides people secure in themselves don't have to dress up for nobodies; wait lemme fix that. For people who aren't essential to their daily existence, when they have to they clean up, otherwise you spend a small fortune in dry-cleaning. Makes perfect sense to me
