Princess Charlene Gets It Right On The Red Carpet (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 12/18/2011 11:32 am Updated: 12/19/2011 5:46 am

Princess Charlene, as we've mentioned, has her style basics -- black, beige, more black. But we love when she branches out and has a killer red carpet moment, as she did in August in a fuschia Akris gown.

The Monaco royal hit a high note again last night while attending the Ein Herz Fuer Kinder (A Heart For Children) Charity gala in Berlin.

There to present an award to fellow Olympic swimmer Franziska van Almsick, Charlene wore an exquisite maroon gown covered in layers of delicate tulle.

The strapless cut showed off her strong shoulders but the nipped-in waist highlighted her feminine figure. She kept things simple with drop earrings and pulled her hair back in a soft, pretty updo.

From head to toe, Charlene nailed it! At least that's our humble opinion. Take a look below -- was this one of the princess's best style moments or just another boring outfit choice?

She looks sad and melancholy. Not like what you would expect a newlywed to look like. She is obviously unhappy. She looks beautiful, the dress is beautiful, but she reminds me of Diana during her marital problems.

She's trying to help raise money for CHILDREN for heaven's sake....Anyone who knows about the state of children in this world SHOULD be sad......

Maroon is one of those colors that is formal yet unusual. Always nice to see something other than neutrals.

Off topic. We're commenting on her gown and how beautiful she looks, not her personal life. Are you her analyst?

Or maybe she's waiting to be paid off right after she pushes out that legitimate heir that she doesn't care about happiness which can come later.

I wonder if she takes the silver spoon out of her ace when she goes to these things. Nothing but a waste of space. At least shes nice looking.

I don't think so.

Yes, she sure has beautiful gowns all the time, she is very elegant but some how I find she always looks like she is apprehensive or trying hard to keep it altogether, I am not sure what it is, maybe she is not relaxed in the lime light. But she has been raised in an elite home and her accomplishments in swimming should have made her comfortable with the media...some times I wonder just how happy she is.

I think she has looked sad from day one, and continues to do so. Your words "trying to keep it together" explains her expression best. I feel sorry for her. This young woman is proof that money will not make you happy. Bet whe wishes she could go back and change her answer.

I watched that wedding live; she was so dreadfully unhappy, and her family was crying and obviously unhappy.  Albert's sisters were crying and looked miserable.  Honestly, it looked like she was going to her execution.  Albert, on the other hand, was grinning like he'd just pulled off the crime of the century.  I haven't seen the video cut by the Palace, but I don't see how you could make it look like anything else.

I've seen folks like her...and 99% of the time, it's xanax.  With her recent weight loss, I'd bet on it.

I just wonder how many millions are spent on a gala to help children to raise money...to help children. I'm thinking there could be a better way to spend the initial millions when there are children starving in Asian and Afircan countries... Millions for a feel-good moment for the wealthy trying to get us poor people to pay the bills once again...

O R G A N Z A .................... This is not tulle ..this is OR G A N Z A ..............try learning about fashion before you venture to write about it ......you might actually find readers who want to read it for your insights rather than your bogus childlke uninformed assessments

It's certainly not tulle, you are correct. HP's so called reporting is abysmal. There are mistakes in these articles on a regular basis.

That is because the author this crap has as much right to report on fashion as I would have to report on nuclear physics

this woman looks so unhappy in every picture I see of her, even at her wedding...something isn't right here
05:31 AM on 12/19/2011
are you kidding me ?? though i think she looks fine, i know from seeing how they criticize gowns in entertainment weekly and the tabloid newspapers all the time that they would have torn her to pieces for wearing that very unconventional gown, let alone in that root beer color. it's like everything in our culture: they will say what they will for reasons other than the one's they claim to often depending on who it is. meaning whatever is politically correct to say "today" about any given thing but maybe not tomorrow.
