Rihanna Throws Up Backstage At Portugal Concert (VIDEO)

Rihanna left it all on stage during her recent concert in Portugal.

The pop star ran into some digestion complications on stage this weekend while performing at Lisbon's Atlantico Arena, running off in the middle of her hit "What's My Name" to throw up out of sight of the audience. Dancers came to the fore while she deposited her dinner, but luckily, fans weren't deprived of their star for long.

"yep! i ran off stage to throw up, halfway thru Whats My Name...made it back juuuust in time for RudeBoy" she tweeted to a fan following the show.

Unfortunately, the moment of illness could potentially be a lot less funny that it may at first seem. It was reported earlier this month that the star was put on 24-hour health watch during her tour by her record label following an alleged meltdown backstage in Dublin in November. Sources also said that Mariah Carey's personal trainer has been brought in to help Rihanna get into shape.

In November, it was reported that she was considering taking a year off from work to recoup after a hectic few years. In November, Rihanna canceled shows in Sweden due to the flu.

This woman is headed for a 'Britney' breakdown. Too much drinking and drugging to cover up the guilt she feels for not taking responsibilty for her part in the CB situation--but we won't start that whole mess up again. I say she probably needs to take a year or two off.

First of all, how very classy of you to report this story...

And second, you'd be amazed at how many stars have done the very same thing during a show. Rod Stewart, Neil Young, Van Morrison, the Who, the Stones, a very well known Oldies singer who I won't name since it isn't public knowledge... and on and on and on. I know because I held the bucket.

Why report this? Isn't this really sinking to a new low point?

I don't happen to dig (or not dig) the young woman's music but I know the concert business, I work in it, and I can promise you that this artist is on a grueling work and travel schedule, under enormous pressure to do media PLUS rehearsals PLUS costume fittings PLUS photo sessions PLUS video shoots PLUS meetings with VIPS PLUS soundchecks PLUS media PLUS deliver the goods at showtime. She's subjected to changing humidity and HVAC environments in her hotels, in ground transportation, on airplanes, she got people breathing on her and shaking her hands three hundred times a day...

Give The Lady A Break. Show some dignity.
