Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2012 Ads Feature Crazy Brows (PHOTOS, POLL)

It's that time of year!

No, not the holidays, silly -- spring ad campaigns. We've already brought you Donna Karan, Versace, Givenchy and Prada -- today we present you with Yves Saint Laurent.

This season, Stefano Pilati chose Mariacarla Boscono, a Riccardo Tisci fave who will also appear in Givenchy's spring campaign, to pose. Wearing two different outfits from the spring collection, Boscono leans on what we assume is a stool (and a chic one at that), although it sort of looks like she's sitting on the toilet.

But no matter -- the eyebrows steal the show! Check out those thin black lines standing in for Boscono's brows. Between the skinny brow treatment and the ultra short bangs, Boscono's got a vintage Peggy Olson thing going on, non?

The arresting images were shot by David Sims and not Ines van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, who have shot YSL's ads for the past nine seasons, according to Women's Wear Daily. While we're not sure what's behind the switch, we are certainly intrigued by the result.

Are you a fan of the hyper-groomed look?

Yves Saint Laurent - titillating necrophiliacs for 50 years. I've always wanted to take over the Paris fashion scene by making CLOTHING for WOMEN and having WOMEN wear the CLOTHING on the cat walks. Nothing over $40. No model under 150 pounds.

Lots of the rich beaches who buy their stuff are not young, not cute so mutilating the models helps them feel better. It's a customer relations thing.

Japan is where its at in fashion. Right, let's choose something Japanese-like that won't work because we're edgy.

Maybe we ought to let somebody who is attracted to girls take the pretty pictures of them for a change. Just a suggestion...

Actually more Vulcan, do not forget the brow ridges. My first thought was this is inspired by the film "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".
