Congress Members Call For Probe Into NYPD-CIA Collaboration Targeting NY Muslim Communities

WASHINGTON -- More than two dozen members of Congress are calling for investigation into the CIA's relationship with the New York Police Department.

The members of Congress want to know more about the CIA's collaboration with the police department to monitor Muslims after an Associated Press investigation.

A letter signed by 34 members of Congress was sent to the Department of Justice and House Judiciary Committee asking for a thorough probe.

Rep. Judy Chu, D-Calif., says: "We cannot allow the explicit profiling and targeting of Muslim Americans by the very people who are tasked with protecting and serving their community."

Earlier this year, the AP revealed that the CIA helped the NYPD build intelligence programs to monitor Muslims after Sept. 11, and a top CIA operative was working at the police department.

Don't people cry when they search the 80 year old women? The reason they have to do that is because they are not allowed to profile. So you don't want people searched and you dont want profiling? How should we handle this?
Sorry, profiling is a good tool to use. It is no secret that a strong majority of the terror threats come from a Muslim.. We can either just admit to profiling or waste a bunch of time and resources on people who obviously are not a threat in order to not upset the ACLU clowns.

I said nothing hateful. Cops do profile. They also profile whites. The second a serial killer is suspected, they start looking at whites. They know drug neighborhoods, so if you are white, pulling out of one, they will stop you. I know you live in this liberal world where nobody is guilty and everything is equal and fair, but it isnt. Profiling works. Just ask Israel.

Criminal profiling is a good tool to be used in law enforcement. Invasive spying on entire communities, spreading fear of others, distrust of your neighbors and hatred towards a people due to their faith is not a tool for anything other than tyranny. I must again repeat my suggestion, orwell's animal farm is an invaluable tool in an understanding of current events in our nation.

i thought they were under investigation right along with portland pd, new orleans pd, houston pd, la pd, and a few more...theres a movie called "gangs in blue" sad but really good true movie about the fbi investigation of one pd and the above mentioned are being investigated too...what a great place for criminals to hide behind a badge and gun...and before a cop trys to pepper spray me online not all of you are bad but yall should start turning them in because they are going to make your jobs hell when all lose faith in you

The CIA, as well as Larger Police Agencies are Profiling, and, or so called 'Monitoring', domestic Americans, or groups. All which is illegal, as the CIA, for one has no Charter to Operate within the United States. And, our local Police Departments are charged with 'Protecting' the citizens within there jusisdiction. But, since 911, it seems that these agencies have taken it upon themselves to surveil legal Americans, as if they have Broad Powers to do so under the Home Land Security Act! One that should never have been passed in the first place, as it does just what it pleases, and reinforces these illegal police officer's that have been doing so, as an Abuse of Power, now having a law to protect them in anything they do! Another great achivement to GW Bush, whom I am sure was over joyed of invading peoples Rights!

I've studied the overwhelming amount of evidence and news stories of ever increasing violence and mistreatment of muslims in America since 9/11. When you see the actual evidence there is no denying just how pervasive it truly is, both within law enforcement and the general population. This means it's a reasonable thing to ask to investigate police targeting of muslims. So you're probably right, since it's a reasonable thing to do to ask for that investigation, then it probably was Democrats.

Yes, and since Timothy McVeigh was a radical Christian and was responsible for the second worse terrorist event within the shore of our country then we need to watch christians. In fact if you look at the FBI database of what groups are responsible for the most terrorism in America, right wing groups are at the top. Muslim groups are almost at the bottom. This means if you look like a christian we need to weed you out from the crowd and do extra searches. I mean "those who wish us harm need to be watched."

Our first head of Homeland Security tried saying something very similiar regarding our home grown terrorist groups, and he wasn't referring to Muslims either, when Bush all but pushed off the stage. Trying to pursue expanding the monitoring of these type of groups is what caused Bush to ask for his resignation.

The Dept of Homeland Security is a clear breach of the privacy rights built into our Constitution.
We are either a free Nation, or a Nation of cowards. We have been cowed into believing that allowing Big Brother to spy on "them" will somehow make us safer. Guess what? Big Brother is also spying on us.
