'Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood': Tori Lies to Kathie Lee Gifford About Being Pregnant (VIDEO)

When caught in the spotlight on national television, it's not always easy to predict how a celebrity might respond to a very personal and probing question. On more than one occasion, it's reasonable to assume that the first instinct to kick in might be to lie in order to protect their privacy. That's what Tori Spelling did, though she admitted to feeling terrible about it on "Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood" (Tue., 10 p.m. ET on Oxygen).

It was during an interview with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on "Today" that the couple was asked if Tori was pregnant again. After a quick look to Dean, Tori said, "We hope one day, but we're not currently expecting."

Dean followed her lead and they bantered a bit about the fun of trying to have a baby, but it was clear even in that moment that the lie wasn't sitting well with Tori. "Now I'm feeling sick to my stomach, and this time not from morning sickness," she said of the experience.

Of course, the secret is out now as Tori and Dean welcomed their daughter Hattie Margaret on October 10, 2011.

"Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood" airs Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET on Oxygen.

I really like Tori and Dean's show - it's fun, not off-color and suitable for viewing. If Tori didn't want to tell anyone about her baby until she passed the third month, she could have said, "You wouldn't believe how many people have asked me that question, Kathie Lee! I have trouble talking about that issue right now; it's such a personal question." She looked kind of foolish being caught in a lie. Better to be politely evasive. Celebrities don't have to answer every question they get asked. But when you go on a publicity tour with a BELLY and you're a public figure, you can expect someone will raise some speculation about it. Just be prepared with a reasonable answer that deflects the nosiness of the questioner.

I love celebrity gossip and I love to know it fast, but she doesn't owe it to anyone to release the news of such a personal event until she is ready! So what if she lied to Kathy Lee Gifford. Her uterus, her business.

Geez, if you don't want to have to face those kinds of questions, don't go on those shows! No one is forcing them into the public eye - they are choosing it. If she wants to keep her pregnancy a secret, STAY OUT OF THE LIMELIGHT. It's not that hard.

Actually, being a celebrity does not relinquish you of your right to privacy. As human beings (they still are human after all) they have the right to share what they want and when they want. Even being on a reality show doesn't relinquish ones right to privacy. The cameras only roll when you say okay and if you are producing the show you have more leeway with what gets shown. She doesn't have to disappear in order to have some semblance of privacy.
